- Pamela ElliottI did not know the caller they called I was not home but when I called back they wanted my phone number and when I called it out to the caller she began to be rude and say I was speaking to fast and hung up on me.when I called back her answer machine picked up and it said she was a debt collector and I do not have any credit with them I never heard of them and no one ever answer just a voice mail

- Jay| 1 replyI called the number, after receiving a voice message to call "about an important matter." The woman who answered said that she was Shiquita. I asked who she represented; she asked if I had received a call or a letter. I said that I had received a phone call and asked again who she represented. She said that she had told me who she was. I acknowledged that she had told me her name but had not told me who she represented. she told me to tell her who I was. I told her to send me a letter to advise me of the "important matter." She said that "probably already had plenty." She hung up.
- E. Ben BenavidesReceived a letter saying I owed tax money to Maryland. I am not a Maryland resident. Decided to look up the 800-900-1395 number and turns out to be not so legit according to some posted comments by other people.

- BarbWe got a call from this number (it comes up as "unavailable"). We never answer these unknow numbers and never call back. They called after 8:30 at night. Sounds like a scam.
- JulieHave been receiving messages from this number for weeks. Answered today and was asked to confirm my billing address and the last four of my social. Ummm...not happening. I asked who they were and was told this was an important financial matter that could only be discussed with me after I verified my identity. I called back and the lady was rude, yelled at me and refused told me this was Penn Credit insinuating I had a credit issue. Not true- I owe a small mortgage only.
- Caller: Penn Credit Copr
- Eve replies to JayI received a call from the same number and was asked to verify my address. No ma'am I've been getting hit with scam calls and today is not the time.
- schasteen| 1 replyHave blocked this number several times. Works for a few months. Then, start getting calls from them again, same number. I never answer. They never leave a message.
- Caller: Unavailable
- Sechasteen replies to schasteenI too have to block them again and again. Don't understand how they get around that. 1 time they were only blocked for a week before calls started again.
- NRThey called anywhere from 2 to 4 times a day I never answer and they never leave a message. I feel that if it was important they would leave me a message!

- Lovejoy| 1 replyThis is definitely a scammer - Penn Credit # - didn't answer - citizens beware! They most likely obtained old debt data or incorrect debt data from a PII breach (like the Equifax breach), and are attempting to collect $$ from hacked information...they probably purchased the data from some nefarious source, and will try to convince you that you owe money from either a debt way beyond the statute of limitations, or from a previous scam/illegitimate debt that was "mysteriously" added to your credit report (with no source info). I had the same experience from this same group about 5 years ago pretending I owed money from a Comcast account that I had 10 years ago and for which I owed no money; the call happened about two months after the OPM PII breach...BE VERY CAREFUL and do not call back, and do not confirm anything over the phone...if you aren't getting the info through the mail, it is most likely not legitimate (even if you are getting it through the mail from this group, doesn't mean it is legitimate). Penn Credit is known for being a scammer...I have also read consumer reports where they "double dip" and try to collect on you while another group is handling the debt.
- Caller: Penn Credit
- Call type: Scam suspicion
- BigA replies to LovejoyI see there have been numerous reports on how to deal with this. Perhaps you should read and learn from them?
