I've received several calls from this number I never answer

PG&E Past Due Bill Collection

The message claims to be from PG&E but when you call back they are really selling time share vacations.

Its just a Scam!!! DO NOT ANSWER PHONE!!!

I verfied this and its a scam. They said I had a past due bill. I went to PGE. They told me the call is a scam.

Automated call from PG&E?

"Hello. This is Pacific Gas and Electric company.  We have an important message regarding your recently closed account.  Please contact our closing bill unit at 800-933-6933."

No plans to call them back anytime soon based on the reports here.

Just confirmed on PG&E's website:

In one such scam, PG&E customers and people in other parts of the country have told the company that they are receiving calls that show PG&E's caller ID (1-800-743-5000) on their phones. Customers are told they have a past-due balance owed or that they are eligible for a federal tax refund.

PG&E is not making these calls. PG&E will never ask for financial information from customers over the phone so customers should treat any request like this as a scam.

PG&E's Corporate Security Department and the proper authorities are investigating this scam.

If a customer ever doubts the validity of an incoming call from PG&E, they should hang up and call the company’s customer service number, 1-800-743-5000.

I received a voice mail from that number and called it back. After pressing 0 to talk to a representative, I gave them my name and phone number, and they confirmed that my number was associated with another account, and updated their information accordingly.

They never asked for, and I never gave them, any more information beyond my name and phone number. This seems like an entirely legitimate call.

I moved last month & have a small balance due still.  Called the # back & went through different parts of their automated phone system at random to see if it's PG&E's complicated call routing structure (report an outage/emergency; residential vs. commercial customers, etc.)  Sounded like their setup.

Didn't talk with anyone, though, because 1) they're not going to tell me anything I don't already know if it's legitimate, and 2) I've already had my identity stolen enough for 2 lifetimes.

Today, just received an automated call to our office landline from 1-800-933-6933. Said "This is Pacific Gas & Electric Company with an important call for (pause- no name stated)" then asked me to press 1 if I wanted them to be on hold for me to get the party. Then the call hung up when I didn't press anything.

About a week ago, someone in our office called PG&E and confirmed this is a scam, after several other calls over the past month saying that we had a past due balance of $7.33.

Called and never left a voicemail

It's a scam saying they are with pge and to contact Denise with in 10 days. Or pge will be shut off.

Got the same PG&E voice message this morning about a recent closed account and to contact their closing bill unit.  I didn't close an account. I checked PG&E.com and none of their contact us phone numbers showed this number.

Received a missed call that went straight to voicemail (phone was in front of me and rang for only 1second), automated message from PG&E regarding a closed account. Sounded very fishy so didn't call back. Seems like the legit PG&E can't do anything about people impersonating them to solicit info since this has been up for a year or more...

I just got off the phone with PGE and they confirmed this is a legitimate phone number for closing bill statements. It showed the payment on their end what I had made with the person and phone number. She said they have so many phone numbers that aren't always listed. I did just recently move and hadn't payed the closing bill.

If you knew it was them, then why did you search this number?

SCAM. People posting on here about it "seems" legitimate obviously are in on the scam or are stupid enough to get scammed. Just call PGE directly and they can see any closed accounts or payments that need to be made. DO NOT return this call.

They left me a message on my phone representing PG&E; stating that my PG%E account has been altered when I never even had PG&E and for those folks that want to provide personal information to these scammers, go right on ahead.

These are scammers wanting your name and PG&E account number.  Do not give them information.

Called on 3/14, but left no message.
