- Janna| 11 repliesI called to my credit card company and have misdialed the number. And got into the trap with all these $100 gift certificates and non existing rewards. They recorded the conversation and made me to repeat the same things over and over again. It took me a while to realize that this is not my credit company because they been asking information that they are suppose to have in their file already. They pretended like they are a reward center of the credit company by making up a story that when a customer service lines are busy a customer service redirects those calls to the reward center. All of this was very suspicious from the beginning why if someone sending you a gift card for $100.00 will charge your credit card for shipping?..... And why the credit company will be promoting skin care products, magazines and etc.? I was also told that I will receive an email confirming all the rewards stated over the phone which of course I have never received. During this phone call I was asking to transfer me to the customer service which didn't happened. Soon the person on the other end (introduced like Mr. Green) got what they were looking for he immediately hanged up. After it was all over I was able to trace a number it was 800-934-2001. I am very much hopeful that someone will start an investigation. I am sure there have to be a reason why they asked for a credit card number, date of birth, mail and email address and etc.

I give them my name and address and then I asked them question about the reward ($100 gift Card) and they hung up the phone on me and I called back 4 times and wanted questions. They were rude and wanted more information on me. So I hung up the phone.

- th replies to MariaI was calling capital one and said something about diff number. Woman asked for my info saying its a one time chg of $2.95 for 100 gift cert to be used anywhere I please. Not legit. Don't know how they can get away w this.
- Anna edwatd| 4 repliesI think capital one needs to be held liable to this.
First of all when I called I started by stating my name and last name and saying that I’m reporting a fraud charge in my card, they went along and said well today “capital one” is offfering a 100$ for the customers on their anniversary date. So they are using the banks name to lure you into giving the card number you are calling about and to give a second card number for the shipping charges of the 100$ gift card to any purchase. The fact that this has been happening for years and that it’s one digit off of the customer service on capital ones back number is a problem. I got all my info taken from me, just because I was already aware that capital one uses India for its out sourcing. I had to block my SS and go nights without sleep just from the outrage that I was actually had blindly because I trusted that that was my bank I was calling!!!!- Caller: 800-934-2001
- TheRealSeriously® replies to Anna edwatdWhy would Capitol One need to be held liable for what a scammer says. YOU were the one that trusted it so the blame lies with you.

- Deb| 1 replyDialed Capital One customer service number and was one number off on the area code. Got a call center that asked for my information several times to verify my identity. They offered a gift card. I declined. They now have my information. I'll be setting up fraud alerts with the credit bureaus.

- S. May replies to Anna edwatdThat just happened to me. So upset called capital one and the closed that account. How can they do that & get away with getting your information. Keep an eye on your credit to make sure they don't use your information. They are using capital one customers.
- Marilyn replies to JannaSame thing happened to me tonight. I had to call Capital One and have my account closed.
- Tammy replies to JannaThis literally just happened to me 15 minutes ago and when I hung up the phone after getting the verification code I decided to call Capital One and I noticed that I was one digit off... When I got a Capital One agent they said my card had just been charged $1 we immediately cancel the card and ordered me a new one... But I'm a little nervous because they have all of our information although I don't think they can do anything now but it didn't even take them 5 minutes to charge that dollar to my card to see if it worked... Very frustrating
- CAThis is a scam!!! Someone with a very heavy Indian accent kept asking me to verify my information once that was all said and done they charged my account for a subscription I did not authorize !!! Then hung up on me! Put in a complaint with capital one !
