- D Lewis| 1 replyI received a fraudulent call from 1-804-415-7939. They were claiming to be from the IRS and threatening that I needed to call this number or the IRS and county sheriff would be after me. They had a very heavy accent.
- Caller: Fraud
- RichardReceived call stating that it was my last call to appear before a Federal Grand Jury.
- D GarciaJust received the same call as D Lewis above.
- ArmandoSame message, "last call to appear...!!!
- Caller: Unknown
- anneRecorded message,(first on I've received): "2nd attempt to avoid initial appearance before a magistrate judge or a grand jury or a federal criminal offense. now this is the final attempt to reach you. To know your case number and to speak to a federal agent, call back on 804-415-7939.." It's after midnight when I picked up the message- thank you all for your postings to let me know it's a scam!
- BRIANThese crapheads called me left a message so i called it back. Claimed to be irs. Had my name and address. I told them this was a fraudulent call and they did not argue. Said his name was pete badge #77480
- Caller: IRS?
- Call type: Debt collector
- ChrisReturned call to this number because I suspected a fraudulent number. My call was answered by someone with a very heavy accent who stated his name was Officer Frank Davis. He then requested my number and I declined to provide it and hung up.
- Caller: An "Independent" company that investigates tax fraud.
- CharliI received a recorded call today, 02/08/2016, on my land line stating that this was the 2nd attempt to reach me and I needed to return a call to 804-415-7939. I called back out of curiosity because I had no idea what the robocall was talking about. A man answered the phone and identified himself as "Agent Martin" badge#521783. He said he was with the IRS Tax ID Office and asked for my case number. I told him I have no cases with the IRS or anyone else. He asked for the phone number that was called so that he could look it up. He gave me some bogus case number and then asked to call me back on a recorded line. I complied. In the next call, he told me the call was being recorded, that I should not interrupt him, but wait until he has completed reading the charges against me and that I should not use profanity. I complied, although angrily. I confess I interrupted him several times and rightfullly so, as he accused me of the following.
Count 1: Violation of Federal Tax Regulation
Count 2: Violation of the Internal Revenue Code
Count 3: Theft by Deception
Count 4: Willful Misrepresentation to a government organization
After this, I was raising my voice telling him I wanted to speak to a supervisor because I knew something was wrong. He put me on hold after dialing into the phone and pretending to ask for a supervisor. When the phone was just dead air for 30 seconds, I hung up. "Agent Martin" called back immediately and asked why I hung up. I told him I was calling my local IRS office and he better not call me again. He stopped calling.
It should be noted that he spoke with a heavy Middle Eastern accent, was extremely aggitated when I asked questions or told him that the information he was confirming about my phone number and address was a matter of public record, and that I needed some way of knowing he was from the IRS. He also became agitated when I told him I had received no prior notice of anything being wrong with my taxes over the past 7 years. I have not received anything in writing and no time to rectify the $3,780 he stated I owed. He knew I was calling his bluff when he began to try to scare me with the legal costs I was supposed to incur when this case got to court, but I told him there was no way he could anticipate a specific dollar amount for an attorney I had not yet even acquired! He also didn't seem to understand me when I told him I worked for DPS and for CPS over the past 7 years. He had no idea what those agencies were.
I am trying to give as much information as possible so that if someone else encounters these scammers, they will at least know that it is definitely a scam.- Caller: Falsely Claims to be IRS
- Call type: Debt collector
- anne| 1 replyHere's an idea which might make a difference if everyone does this?: Call them back and ask a lot of questions, don't give any information yourself, of course. I asked them if they know what the messages are they are leaving us, that they are upsetting people? (He said he would get a better job if he could find one).
- anneOh! I look stupid- I hadn't read charli's input- I never got past the first person- still it might be interesting if everyone calls back and calls them on their bluff.
- LeeCalled today with the same message regarding last call being made saying it was the second attempt to reach me and I needed to call back to get my case number in order to get my case number in order to go before a magistrate or federal judge. I did not call back because I was sure it was a scam.
- AnonymousWe have received numerous calls asking us to return the call to the number listed above by everyone. Stating that if we did not within 2 hours we would be arrested and they could no longer help us at that point. So good luck to us if we do not call back. We suspected scam and did not call back. The call back number we were instructed to call is (804)415-7939. However, the called ID stated DALLAS (972)852-4794
- DavidI receive the same type of recorded message that Charli above did. Message was gargled except for last few seconds. It had the same return phone number. I knew that the IRS did not make contact in that way so I suspected it was a scam. When I made the return phone call I could tell that it was a call center (loud back ground noise of a call center) and the answerer had an Indian accent. I knew it was a scam but continued to talk to him to get some information. During the conversation he began talking excitedly and not pausing to listen to me. I hung up.
So beware of phone calls from IRS, especially at this time of year.

Sheer greed and lack of other opportunities probably accounts for much of the call-center scammery they engage in.
- S. F. replies to D LewisI received the same call as D Lewis described. I wasn't home at the time. They left me a VM with a heavy accent stating they were from the IRS and if I don't call them back a judgment will be filed against me and I will be arrested. It was followed up an hour later with a recorded female automated voice stating the same thing.
- S& G HulettGot the same call as others saying it was a fraudulent call and that I was going to go to court but mine was an automated voice not a real person phone number on Caller ID was 804-415-7939
- Caller: Unknown Name
- DCI received the same call as Charli. When I called back I was told that the IRS has audited me back to 2008 and that I am being charged with tax fraud. The agent also said that several attempt were made to deliver a certified letter in which I told him if this were true the post office/mail carrier would have left a notice to pick it up at the post office. The continue by saying I was stalling for time. As I pressed him to speak with someone that spoke better English he hung up.

- JKnoI got a call as well from agent Martin. Typical heavy foreign accent. I let him finish his speech and he asked if I had an attorney. I said "Yes" and gave him the name "Charles Ulysses Farley" (Chuck U Farley... get it?) I also gave him my attorney's phone number of (800) 328-7448... That spells out (800) EAT-S**T. About 15 minutes later I got the robo-call lady. I am having fun with this.
- Caller: Not likely the IRS
- Call type: Debt collector
- GlennI to got the same call from the same number today. I am formerly a Federal Agent myself and was obviously aware that this was a scam so "Undercover" IRS Agents to my house in a couple of hours. Waiting for them now. Boy should anyone actually arrive, are they in for a surprise. I kind of hope they show. I could use the exercise and practice.
