Called my cell phone @ 9:am.  I did not answer and they left no message. I thought it was illegal for telemarketers to call cell phones.

Got the same call from multiple numbers within my area code 805. The latest one from 248-7716. I never answer unknown numbers and it seems that every unknown number comes from this source. The scam is that they try to get you to say 'OK' but more importantly 'Yes'. Then they paste that response to a verbal contract where that 'Yes' is used to extort money from you because they have your acceptance of the terms of their 'contract' with you. That is my understanding of this scam. Unfortunately this scam is very lucrative to the perpetrators and are still able to use it after two years that I became aware of it. Sad thing that I've only have had this cell number for 3 months and I count twelve attempts for this same scam on my new phone. My previous cell that I had for five years only got hit only once a month or so. Do your own reaserch on this scam if in doubt. There's lots of info on how this scam works. It always starts with a supposedly live person saying 'Sorry about that. I was having a little problem with my headset anyway.' Then the pitch to get you to say 'Yes'.

It pays to be cautious, but don't go overboard. You know if you just do not answer unknown calls you won't have to worry about saying yes or no. And never call unknown numbers back. It's really quite simple.

Didn't recognize this number so didn't answer. No message was left. Thanks to previous posts they are now blocked.

I received a call from this number claiming to be the social security administration indicating I must call within 24 hours or legal proceedings would begin.
