these people are full of [***]. i got a call when i was at work. no message or anything, when i got home i gave a call back and the voicemail i got was telling me the hours that theyre open but didn't tell me who they were, i thought they were friend of the court or something being sneaky (i know how that sounds, not a dead beat dad or anything, i havent spoken with them yet about my son who is currently still with his mother aka inside of her) but they sounded [***] serious. if i get ahold of them im gonna say hey, look here buddy, i'll reserve a special spot on my [***] for you to kiss.

This is a collection agency. They try to collect from all types of businesses (medical, credit cards, loans, personal, etc). I would suggest not to answer unless you are prepared to pay. Once they reach you they can take further actions, such as judgments and wage garnishment. Any information you give them they can use to collect; location- they can find your bank and withhold earnings, Job- they can set up garnishment, Spouse name or information- they will find your spouse and harass them and possibly get their bank and job info. The will use scare tactics to get you to pay. Research your rights and be prepared. They're job is to get you upset. Collection agencies don't get paid unless they collect from you!

Most phone companys have a call screening or call blocking feature. Do a search for this feature for your carrier, AT&T blocks 10 numbers and Comcast blocks 12 numbers . With AT&T there are codes you enter then follow the prompts. If it is a 800#. you must engage the feature after the call comes in, and keep a list of the numbers you've blocked because AT&T's system is very tricky - maybe because they generally sell phone service to these harrassers in the first place. Comcast allows you to simply enter the number you want to block online under call manager, you can remove and enter other numbers with ease.

When you get a call from an unknown number, answer with a made up name then tell them that you just got this new phone, works EVERY time, no more calls. OR, if you have online accounts which are late, go online and change your number to theirs, I love that one!!!

Received a telephone call from 810.244.4231, the call did not leave a voice mail message.   I believe the caller has called me before and also never left a voice mail message.

Called my mother's house and asked for me. My mom said she said her name was Heather something or other, anyway she would not leave a message just simply asked if this was a good number to reach me. I don't even live with my mother. I am not even sure how they got my mother's phone number.

    very annoyed
Yes, this number is a bill collector named Merchants and Medical. YES, I do owe 324.00 for a medical bill. I was setting up payment arrangements for 50.00 a month, this was not acceptable to the [***] I was speaking with. And she kept insisting on me giving her the name of MY bank. I said I will NOT give that information out over the phone. I will send a payment every month for 50.00, again, not acceptable. So I told her to take a flying leap. Very rude!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is a debt collector that buys old written off debt and by law they are allowed to try to collect against it. They MUST give you their full address so you can and are allowed by law to write them (registerd mail) and tell them to cease and desist from all calls. These people are nasty

Just got a call at work asking for my boss by her first (nick)name.  I told the girl she wasn't available and may I take a message.  She then said "Just put me over to her."  I told her in a firm tone of voice "I said she's not available.  Would you like to leave a message?"  She again told (did not ask) me to put her through. I hung up on her.  What's the deal with these people? They sure would get further with politeness.  My caller id showed "Flint MI."

    Totally fed up & p-ss-ed
Yep they are a collection agency for several places, including St. Joseph Hospital. They call constantly almost to the point of harrassment. They never leave a message, but they let your answering machine or voice mail pick up & then report in your file that they have made contact. If you speak to them, they refuse to give you the info you need to verify the account they are trying to collect.
They refuse to accept partial payments and/or to set up payment arrangements. If you really don't have any outstanding accounts, mail them (certified or registered mail) a Cease & Desist letter. By law you can request the only contact with you from them be by mail.
One thing I was told, is if you do have an outstanding account, NEVER pay these people. ALWAYS make payments to the original creditor.
Also, as suggested above, research the Debt Collection laws in the state you live in. You would be amazed at the information you can find.

Just an addition to my original post. When you research Debt Collectors/Collections for your state, check to see what the "Statue of Limitations" are for each kind of debt. Be very careful how you reply to these people because you can inadvertantly 'reactivate' an account that is past it's limitations. PLEASE just do some research, it's very informative and useful in reducing stress to you & your family. It also makes you feel like you have some control over these type of situations.

I get a call from this number 1-3 times a day, about 4 days a week. Usually they call and hang up when the answering machine comes on, today was the first time they left any kind of message. All it said was please stay on the line for a very inportant message. I/we have no medical bills. we do have credit card debt, including a kohl's card, but all are paid every month on time. My calls started after I lost my job a month ago.

yes, my university did the same thing. I owed about $5800. They sent it to this collection agency who wanted me  to pay $3000 down and then like $250 a month. OBVIOUSLY if I had the $$ I would have paid it. They did not think that $50 a month was acceptable. Very rude people!
