wanted me to renew my subscription to The Kansas City Star. I had already renewed 2 months earlier.

Claimed they were Kansas City star for renewal. VERY persistent in asking for credit card number, scam!

I call BS...likely, not a valid call...the prefix 253 is not given on the KC Star website but 234 is...if you have already renewed or had a subscription that is expiring then they should have your financial info on file...if not, then never give it out on a call to you...you call them...or better yet...send a check...way too many scammers out to cheat consumers in these simple day to day life easy calls...info and call lists are easy to get online...and area codes can be disguised by things like the "phone jack" pretending to be from a local area code but they are not...maybe calling from another country even...trust no one asking for financial information unless you are 100% sure they are who they say they are...

Came up as "Scam Likely" on my mobile. Sometimes work calls get mis-labelled, so I answered it.  There was the classic telemarketer pause, then someone said "Patrick?". I said yes and they hung up.
