Slim, why don't you purchase a call-blocker that really works for the rest of us?  There are honest appointment sitters and telemarketers, but why are we all complaining? Fact is, there is a way to stop this nonsense, but I would take me a good while to type it all our, and then it would be to no avail because neither the government or the telephone company is going to do anything about it.

Received call from this number on my DNC cell.  CID read: Grapevine, TX. I made the mistake of picking up since I hoped it was a contractor I have been waiting on. Sounded like a male voice recording regarding my vehicle. I hung up and blocked the number.

I couldn't be certain if this is the very best of all possible interactive robots, or a woman who is well experienced and exceptionally skilled at sticking to the script.  Whether live, or Memorex, by whatever means, the caller very aggressively attempted to get me to give information about me, and agree to having someone else call me on a subsequent occasion about death/burial insurance. She/it would read script, then when I didn't respond the sought-for way, would read more gibberish about no matter your health, expenses, blah, blah. Overwhelming, yada, yada.

After this one, I may not be able to answer a few, for the next day or two. It was very upsetting. She/it (I'm tempted to delete the slash and/or the "e.") refused to give a clear indication of who they were. Twice, she talked over me, so there might have been useful information I was unable to understand. It sounded like "Bali High," but then she said,
    "I'm calling for senior benefits."
"And, is that Senior Benefits, Incorporated, or is that just some label on a different company?"
"That's a great question, for the specialist. Uh, let me just get your information over to the specialist, and they'll give you a call back, okay?"
    "No."
    "Is that okay?"
    "No."
    "Okay. Goodbye."

Apparently they are calling randomly, because instead of asking for someone by name, she started out demanding to know my name. Her focus was on "how to qualify for this benefit." Every question I asked was deflected, and she doggedly pursued answers to her own questions.

At least, she heard me say "No," when asked if it was okay to call me back.
