I don't owe Citicorp or any medical facilities. SO I looked up the number listed for Evan Monk on Google (817-358-3087) and got the 800 notes.

- Regina| 2 repliesThe caller left a message saying they were a representative of Good Samaritan Hospital. They claimed I needed to get in touch with them immediately. Seeing as though we've been getting a lot of these calls lately, it's likely we somehow landed on a scam list. The called id showed 1-817-358-8000 as the number, and the tag as HCA NPAS, TX. When I looked up the number for NPAS (the real one) in Texas, the number listed read 817-358-8200. It's obvious these people are scammers. The fact that they even had to rip off semi-identical digits is low. In turn, the callback number they gave me 1-800-377-2013 is not the same as the one that popped up on caller id. 'Never gonna call these people back. Reputable companies have the same callback number as the caller id and if not, their info at least matches the company's page via Google.

- Former CollectorI am getting calls from this company, NPAS, InPas, National Patient Account Services, or whatever their company name is. If you look up National Patient Account Services on the BBB website, they go by like 7 different names. They are automated robotic calls that are illegal in my state. I am a former collector, was in the business for 8 years before becoming a homemaker.
There are so many guidelines you have to follow, doesn't matter if you work for the company directly or a 3rd party representing that company. You cannot make threats ie: tell people you're going to sue them, yell at them about the debt. I don't care if your account is 1-30 days or over 3 years past due, you CANNOT operate like this company does. It's illegal to contact someone before any bills have been sent or the account has gone past due.
It is NOT required for you to give your full SSN over the phone to any company, the law states they only have to id you through first and last name when they are calling you and the last 4 of your SSN when you call them. If it was legitimate, they would already have your information in front of them, you should not have to verify all of it such as your address.
Record, report and research before you do anything. If you have not received any correspondence, request it before paying, call the original creditor to verify it. If you do not get any satisfaction and something ends up on your credit report, contact the individual reporting agencies and dispute the debt, if they do not submit something showing the debt is valid the reporting agency will remove it from your credit report.
Also, NEVER give your account information over the phone, by Western Union/MoneyGram, or send a check/money order unless you are sure beyond a shadow of a doubt that it is the correct creditor. Suggestion, call the original creditor, verify who they transferred your account to and their contact information. If the 3rd party will not say who they are representing, don't pay them. A question that not many people know about, but is very important and must be answered 'Are you a debt collector?" If they say 'no' then attempt to collect from you once you have identified yourself, that's illegal because they are not allowed to lie. If they say 'yes' then the next question should be "What company are you representing?' If they don't tell you, ask them to send you something in writing. I've dealt with scammers, because if one of my customers called me I made sure to call the scammers with the customer on the line to show them there was nothing to fear.
If you have debts, Don't fear them, they can't do anything to you. Another unknown fact is that if you are paying any part of the debt, even $20 per month, they can't garnish your wages. They may report negatively to your credit report while you're going through whatever hardship you're going through, but they cannot arrest you, they cannot visit you at work, and they cannot harm you in any way. Do what you can, but don't fear them. In my case, I called the hospital that I owed $35 to and made the payment to them, however, this company is still calling me. So, my next contact is with the FTC and BBB regarding the illegal practices of this company.- Caller: NPAS/National Patient Account Services

- budGot a call from 1 817 358 8000 They asked for my wife and I told them she was not available. and told them I take care of all business for the family. they asked for my wifes birth date, I told them NO, I asked what they wanted, He said he must speak with my wife concerning a bill from ou medical center in Edmond OK. and I told him she was on an extended vacation in Mexico and would not be back for at least 3 months. I also told him that the last statement i got from OU Medical Ctr had the account balance at ($25.00) Parenthesis on a bill means it is is a credit not a bill. Therefore they owe me money not me owing them

- grano9got call - left no message...called them back. They are a Legitimate Company, collector for one of our local hospitals.. I had an emergency in Jan. and AARP Health care & Medicare paid all but $15.82 (for some medicine) - never have gotten a bill for that amount from anyone. When I get a bill I will gladly pay the $15.82 since the bill for anaphylactic shock from 4PM to 11AM next day was over $14,000. I got off well owing only $15.82......................I do wish they had left a message - just common courtesty.

- Johnb_flI recently received two bills from NPAS pertaining Bayonet Hospital in Hudson FL; and a second bill for a separate emergency visit to Trinity Hospital in New Port Richey FL. Doing my due diligence I called both my primary insurance and my secondary (Medcare Provider) to inquire about these bills. Both bills had been paid in full by my coverage yet I still received notice to pay by a certain time. I called the Hospital Billing Office and asked if they were "balance billing" me. Balance Billing is illegal in Florida and also illegal when done while on Medicare. What happens is the hospitals and doctors who are in your provider network agree to a set price for a procedure. This a contractual agreement between your insurance and the hospital and billing for the balance is illegal.

- LadyKitsuneI was in an accident that was the other persons fault. My bills are tied up with the case. Plus I have insurance. I have no idea why I am getting calls when everyone is aware all the way around. I have told them more than once my situation. They just keep calling. Fine by me, I am going to let my lawyer handle the harassment case against them while at it.

- bull replies to Understandoh yes it does I called the hospital to find I had a ZERO......ZERO.......... Balance so yes you need to call the person you owe first otherwise you are giving out your persona info to someone who does not need it they could not tell me who thy were then I called with out giving them any info and the hospital stated it is not someone they use....so I think they will be recorded from now on and I will have a lawyer.
- cassieReceived a call from these people and they stated they were related to OU medical center yet they would not tell me there name so I hung up and they called again and I hung up. I then called OU medical center billing to find out I had a zero balance and then she went on to say she wanted the number of the caller and who called I stated they would not tell me who called till I gave my SS# I did not give it at the hospital so they would not have it either. She looked and stated that it was not someone they use for collections and that I should not talk to them about any bills.
