- Pam| 1 replyKeep calling leaving message about having my aturnory call if not they feel sorry for me who the hell are they
- ant| 2 repliesI keep receiving calls stating that a lawsuit has been filed against me. I have contacted my local courthouse and know that no such thing has happened. they have my employer name, my address and the name of my bank. I'm not sure how they have all of this information as I've never given it to them but as soon as I tell them that I am going to sue them for fraud and harassment, they hang up.
- Caller: law firm
- Sue replies to ant| 1 replyI have had the same problem. They called my work and tried to talk to me. Someone left a crazy message on my phone but did not explain who they were. I'm nervous about the fact that they called my job and could be running some sort of trace on my social security number! I have never heard of a consumer complaint against a ssn number!
- JAsonSame thing; said they have an lawyer and that I owe money to some cash advance company........
And called my work as well....- Call type: Debt collector
- DianeI have also had the same issue. They called my work several times. They left a message stating that they are going to file a criminal complaint against me. When I called back they had all my information. Just Don't send them any money! This is a scam!

- I don't think they'll be calling me backI received the same phone call as Ant, only they called my cell phone. When I asked them who the loan was with they told me American payday and I started asking questions and they hung up. I called back and got a different date than the last person I spoke with and they put me on hold. I got my co-worker to act like my attorney and they put her on hold and told her they had to get my information. The funny part is my dad told me a few weeks ago that he had gotten a similar call. They had the last four of my bank account and my bank. They are getting our information from companies that we have given that inforamtion too and they are a third party company paying for the information to perform the scam. I'm going to call and mess with them since they are calling messing with us.

- ArmYes today feeling all good being outside with warm weather. I come in and my answering machine comes on with this disturbing message saying I got a pay day loan over 5000.00 and that I will go to jail and the bank in question I don't even have an account with them. They had my email. It scared the Heck out of me. I called the person and he told me that I took out a loan. First of all. I'm on SSD and can't take out a Pay Day Loan on Social Security. If it was not for these prior Posting here, I would have been distraught all evening. The person who called was very rude.

- JudeeSame happened here. he had a thick, African-accent, spoke in English, had bad broken English, said I was on deep trouble, and then he said if I did not call him back, he would wish me luck. I did take out a payday loan, but I believe the pay day loan places are selling information to scam artists. Yes, they probably did get a bank account #, employer name etc, because you have to provide that information on a payday loan site. I told the bank what happened and have closed out my account. I will also inform my work place that if they get a call like this it is a scam, and to forward all such calls to me so I can give them to a fraud dept of the FBI. If you do owe money on a pay day loan, and get behind, there are places that will help you consolidate those bills into one affordable monthly payment. They contact all the payday loan companies you work for, and let them know they are now power of attorney for your debt, and that all transactions and communications are to go through them. The company is called PAYDAY FREEDOM and their number is 888-250-5005. They are extremely reputable and have helped hundreds in debt from payday loan scams. I found out that if you read the fine print on the payday loan sites, many of them are not even located in the U.S., and many are out of Nigeria, and other parts of Africa, so who knows who they are selling information to. Only deal with ones that are located here in the United States. Some were even located in the Grenadines? I hope this info helps anyone out there with payday loan scam problems, or are behind on their loans and need help to find a way out of the mess they can cause.

- Lindy| 1 replyreceived 3 calls today from this number asking for "Julie Pike" and threatening lawsuit etc. I have received numerous calls from this idiot - using about 12 different phone numbers. It has been reported to my local police and they have called and it will stop for a while then start up again. The callers are extremely rude (they've started cursing profusely several times).

- tonia| 1 replyJus had the "pleasure" of speaking to 3 different guys all who informed me that i was being sued for a cash advance i had defaulted on. This is disturbing on so many levels, first being, i have never applied for a cash advance. These people know my full name, my address to my house as well as my job, my email address and even my bank account information. I got as much of the company's information as possible before I was hung up on but I do plan on following up...

- RobThis is a scam. These sleazebags often get info from legit sources such as old credit reports or applications made via bogus websites, and then try to get you to think that somehow you owe someone something you do not.
See http://www.fbi.gov/news/pressrel/press-releases/paydayloanscam_120710; this specifically deals with the payday loan scam, but you can change “payday loans” to pretty much any extortion attempt.
While it’s a pain in the backside, let your bank and CC companies know someone has stolen your information, and follow their guidelines.
Do not call them back. If you pick up their calls, you just cut them off by saying “I deny I owe this” and hang up on them. If they call you back and you have one, then blow a whistle in their ear. Sounds silly, but it works wonders with these extortionists. - Rob replies to PamThis is a scam.
