A scammer (Anthony Stokes) called from (818) 666-4946 stating that he was calling from power company and said that the power would be turned off if $500 dollars wasn't paid right away.  They said that the bank (which happen to be Chase in our case) sent a bad transaction number to the power company and it couldn't be recognized and the system rejected the payment (the power company happens to be PG&E) therefore they had to reimburse the money by law and needed a cash payment right away.  I pointed out that no reimbursement was needed if the transaction didn't go through and he said "Oh yes, but the payment didn't go through and an immediate cash payment was needed right away down at the Safeway".
After calling Chase to find out that the transaction had processed with the scammer on the phone listening, this scammer on the phone still insisted that an immediate cash payment was needed.  I then spoke with the alleged supervisor (David Williams) and he demanded the same, I told him that he could meet me at the police department and we could discuss this matter regarding payment in front of a police office and he put me on hold (essentially hanging up on me) with an very annoying poorly created synthesized tune.  The message on the scammers voice mail does not state any company name; a big red flag.

Sams scam just a few minutes ago, except that it was "David Williams, the supervisor" that called me.  It was pretty obvious to me right from the start that it was a scam, but some people might fall for it.  Told me my last payment didn't go through due to a glitch in the system and I would be getting a refund check, but in the meantime I needed to pay a little under $800.  Oh, and it wouldn't show up online, blah, blah, blah.  I hope the cops bust this guy.

I work at a very large hotel downtown in my city as a reservations agent. He tried the same scam saying that the hotel's power would be turned off in 30-45 minutes if we didn't pay. He mispronounced the city's name and used the full name of the electric company instead of the acronym, which NO ONE in town does. He seemed very shocked when I called him by the name listed in this thread, said he was calling from California (area code searched to that location), and was a well known scammer. Love this site for allowing me to bust his scam before he got to any of the higher ups of my hotel.
