Called my office, when I answered the phone he said he was with the Salt Group or something like that, wanted to know how my day was going. I asked him why he was calling, he wanted to know my name. I asked again why he was calling, again, he asked me for my name. Went back and forth like this a couple more times with him refusing to say why he was calling, he finally hung up.

Caller was male and asked to speak with our president.  When asked, he said his name was Anthony with the State and Local Tax (SALT) Group out of San Antonio, TX.  Sounded like a sales call and the company president din't want to take the call, so I gave the caller the choice of message or voice mail.

Wanted a specific person (he knew the name).  He said he was with State And Local Tax Group.  I questioned him, and he said State And Local Tax Group was their name.  Texas is neither state nor local.  They called three times today.

The company I work for received several calls from him.  He asked to speak to a Supervisor and refused to give his name.  He was rude right off the bat and said he did not want to be put on hold or wanted to speak to a Supervisor RIGHT AWAY!  I had placed him on hold and when I came back on the line he said that he was on hold forever and wanted to speak to someone right now!  Our HR lady told him that she did not want him calling our company back and he did call back and lit up our switchboard.  If he calls our office again, we are reporting him and this company to the Better Business Bureau.

    Operator
Wants to speak with controller or someone in Finance.  After leaving messages and not receiving a call back, he then wanted Accounts Payable.  Our employees are good about returning calls if they are interested in what the caller is offering.  This is a very pushy sales person.  Will continue to send to voice mail and let the employee determine if they want to speak with this caller.

    A Disgruntled Admin
A young woman called my office and when I asked if she was attempting to sell an item, I was told she was with the State and Local Tax group and was attempting to reach someone in charge of our accounting/tax matters. The company I work for is an international company, so I can't just transfer her unless she knows the name of who she needs to speak with exactly. Upon asking further questions, she implied she was with the state of GA and when I asked if she had a ga.gov email address, she stated she did but skirted any attempts in my obtaining that information as well as any pertinent company or callback information. I understand how cold calls work, but leading folks to believe you are from a governmental agency when the phone number used to place the call and that shows on the caller id goes back to this company is deceitful. Do better.
