I do not pick up whenever the caller i.d. shows only a telephone number that is totally unfamiliar to me. Instead, I come to this website and/or Google the number. I didn't find out anything about this caller, but I blocked it anyway. The chances are 99% sure that it's a nuisance call. I have never regretted this "system" or discovered later that I made a terrible mistake by not answering an unidentified call. (I have also turned off my voicemail, by the way, because that counts as answering the call.) The downside, which is to answer the call and finding out it's a scammer, is that they now know your number is a live one, and they--from all their spin-off numbers, will be calling you, as will all the scammers they sell your number to. By not answering  they don't get any information. If you have caller I.D, that's really all you need. That leaves you in complete control. Having their number lets you do your own investigation and decide whether to answer if they call again. In other words, it let's you be in control. I feel certain that ALL of these new, basically unidentified callers, , are part of this obnoxious wave of telephone marketers/scammers/Robocallers...this invasion of our privacy, and I'm not going to be a part of it! Also, if you don't have a phone blocker, I recommend that you get one. There are many on the market, and they really help on many levels, to include seeing patterns for different callers....whether it's a first-time caller (like maybe a wrong number). and such. I have Phone Tray Pro, and LOVE IT, but they all help.

I got same call. When I don't recognize call, I don't answer. If important, they can leave a message. I can later Google Voice the number. No big deal. No need for a call blocker. Just use common sense.

BS telemarketers - say they are local, "but also from California" - lying POS.  Do not respect DNC list.  Number is either fake or does not allow you to call them.  Why does anyone respond to this garbage?!?  Someone must, or they wouldn't call.  Be smart, do not do business with any company that operates this way.  Let's drive them out of business.
