- Caller: secure asset management
- BigA replies to Steven| 4 repliesSeems to be a debt collector located in Texas so what makes you think that they are a "Scam" and why didn't you provide more information to back up your claim? Maybe you are simply saying that because you owe money and don't want to pay it?
- Frogleg replies to BigA| 1 replyThen why dont they say who they are in the message? Seems to me that if you are a legit company, you dont have problems giving out your company name. I would never call back or even answer calls from someone or some company I dont know
- BigA replies to FroglegApparently they gave that person their company name. They are only allowed by law to leave a message that would not necessarily indicate that the party they are trying to contact owes a debt so that if someone else hears the message they have broken the third party rule.
- christie| 3 repliesthis is a parasitic debt collector that has bought up old debt that is No longer legally collectible by any agency. So they are breaking the law right out of the gate. They never tell you where the debt originated from and can’t provide any information About the original debtor. Complete scam.

You don't really know that since the laws vary by state. You have also given an incomplete post of what really occurred and simply stated your opinion. I am trying to get more information about this outfit but the BBB website is down again as usual and all I could find out is that the DC website has been up since 2011 and that they have an office address in Texas.Quote:No longer legally collectible by any agency - HCS replies to BigA| 1 replyYou must be a debt collector. Actually the FDCPA (Fair Debt Collection Practices Act) is FEDERAL law that controls. the thing that varies from state to state is the time in the statute of limitations. I am familiar with these clowns and yes, they are in violation of the law in several areas. For example, they have to mail you a notice within 24 hours of the phone call. They do not. They have to provide information about the original creditor and they do not. They also make up data to try to confuse you as to what the debt is and how long they have to collect it. As example, I had a call that was trying to collect on a pay-day loan from 2018. I live in AR. Here, pay-day loans were outlawed in 2008, and the SOL is 5 years on a written contract. I counted years and told them that even IF it was a valid loan which it is not, they have run out of time. At that point the guy told me I was full of it as the SOL is 7 years. WRONG! Ubless you know more specifically, I suggest that you do not defend these clowns. If you follow the news you will learn that most of them are pure scam. Kind of like those Nigerian Princes.

No, but I bet you are considering all the mistakes you have made in your post to purposely mislead people.Quote:You must be a debt collector.
That wasn't brought into question so why did you bring it up and for that matter there are 5 states with more stringent laws where the FDCPA doesn't apply. Why didn't you mention that?Quote:Actually the FDCPA (Fair Debt Collection Practices Act) is FEDERAL law that controls.
Yes, that is what we were discussing.Quote:the thing that varies from state to state is the time in the statute of limitations.
Nope, they have 5 days after first contact to mail, text, or email you.Quote:For example, they have to mail you a notice within 24 hours of the phone call.Quote:§ 809. Validation of debts

Yes, I know lots more then you and there is nothing in any of my posts that defends them. You can prove me wrong by quoting the exact words that I used that defends them.Quote:Ubless you know more specifically, I suggest that you do not defend these clowns.

https://www.fair-debt-collection.com/sol-by-state.html - Unknown callerTotal Scam trying to pull up an old debt that is no longer valid unless the get the individual to compromise the debt from past is still owed in contrast it’s been over so many years where if you ignore these third parties they get nothing, see they buy thousands of these accounts trying to get a percentage of the accounts recovered to make profits …very sad they can’t go after people who currently owe debt in the window of law…… Definitely a scam call IGNORE IT

- DBJust got a call from a local area code stating "You or someone affiliated with this number owes a debt" and then gives the 833-728-4883 number to call back. Does not say who they are, or who they're really looking for. Come on, a legitimate collection agency would at least say who they need to speak to. They're just throwing darts to see who might be dumb enough to call them back. Total Scam. I had problems back in the early 2000's and got everything taken care of. I owe nothing now and watch my credit score like a hawk. If there was something I still owed on, it would show up there as well. They obviously got my number from an old file or was sold to these low lifes.

- Mr LiuScam. Noticed old reports say it's a debt collector. Looks like they dropped that act. Left a message with no identification just claiming "someone associated with this number" has an issue with them but doesn't say who they are or who this associated person is.
Can't be a debt collector since we have no outstanding debt and have never had old issues with outstanding debt. Can't be an old resident since we've lived here for decades.- Caller: Unidentified
