Get $10,000.00 to go back to school scam. You fill out contact info to enter the drawing but then have to sign up for a school to contact you. When you call 844-211-1396 back, it only rings once then nothing. No one picks up.

I have also recieved 3-4 phone calls from this number, however when leaving a message.......there is nothing "dead air." What is going on with our society that people have to stoop to that level to make a buck.

Want to stop repeated telescam phone calls?
    Try these alternatives:

    1.  Do not answer the phone if you see an unknown number on your Caller ID ... let it go to answering machine or voicemail.  Many telescammers hang up after three or four rings.

    2.  If you have a smartphone, get one of the inexpensive or free phone blocker apps at your online app store, and learn how to use it.

    3.  If your cell is not "smart", read the manual to learn how to set up a "group".  Assign the scammer's phone number to that group.  Also assign a "silent ring" to that group.  You will not hear future calls from that number.

3a.  Alternately, assign a "silent ringtone" as the DEFAULT ringtone.  Then, assign your favorite ringtones to friends, family, contacts, businesses, etc.  That way, you will not hear your phone ring, even if the scammer changes numbers!

    4.  For cell phones or landlines: Contact your phone service provider.  They may have a facility or method to allow you to block numbers.

    5.  If you buy things online, you might want to google "phone blocker" to see what devices or apps Amazon or other sites have to offer for landlines or smartphones.

    6.  DO NOT call unknown numbers back without checking who called (800notes is your friend)! All that does is verify your number is "live".  Instead, read this:
    http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/blog/one-ring-cel ... ing-your-wallet

If you want to report potential fraudulent or scam calls, here are two pages of links to (mostly government) sites in Canada and the USA were you can report those scams, or learn more about them.

    Look here first:

If the reporting site you wanted is not in the above list, try this one:

I just received a ca from this number about 2 minutes ago. I said hello and it took the man a long time to answer me. Then he asked if he could speak with (my name) and I said "this is her". He asked if I was currently enrolled in college and I hung up. 😡😡 I hate scams!

They called back a second time later and i answered and they never said anything then just hung up.

I keep getting calls from 8542122396. I can hear someone breathing on the line and they hang up. Is this fraud. I learned from my job not yet call this number back. However looking it up it is for complaints. Is this correct?

Just like many on here, I clicked on and started signing up for, what seemed to be at the time, a legitimate $10,000 dollar back to school scholarship through Phoenix University. It wasn't until after I gave them the general information page and clicked next that I realized that it wasn't. Now 24 hours later, I'm getting calls from this number. Hoping it stops soon and will be looking into blockers to prevent anymore spam calls from this number.

Alright I'm hearing all the scam and extra buck crap. But what are they taking away from the individual? I didn't give up any info other than basic contact stuff. Nothing to personnal, no bank account info or social info. What are we losing?
