My distant aunt who I haven't seen or talked to in years, got a message on her answering machine today from a woman identifying herself as Tamara Scott with a company called North Eastern Recovery Group, saying that I would have an arrest warrant in Multnomah County, Oregon by the end of the day and to call 844-211-6199. I called my attorney first and described the message to him. Then I called the number they gave me. It was a recorded message all three times that I called and no one called me back after any of the three progressively angrier and angrier messages that I left them.

I found one company online that matched their name but the only link was to a BBB page that contained a warning that this company was not registered with them and no information one way or another had been obtained about them. The only contact information the page contained was a different 844 number that just had a busy signal every time I called it.

I am furious about what they did and would like to identify them and take action against them to prevent them from harassing and needlessly frightening more people.

They are only debt telemaggotors.  They can be safely ignored.  They are trying to extort money from you.  It is best not to engage them, and just don't answer their calls.
