Short answer---IF you really had a problem you would receive WRITTEN  documentation  that is MAILED to you. The name Stark Recovery has shown up  here quite a few times.
Consider reporting them to your state attorney general.  The police can't really do anything to them.

It takes time to catch criminals or company's (legit or extortion scam) breaking laws. Yes, they should be reported. The More complaints made, the better. Its not CSI where things get solved in a hour though..

Welcome to the real world where real things take time!

***A company must be licensed in their state as well as the one they are trying to collect in if two different states are involved.

    Some Tips:
    *Keep all messages
*Take a picture of your Caller ID
*Keep any and all conversations recorded to your states recording laws, some require they be told, others do not. This can be transferred to a recording device.
*Keep a notebook handy for writing time, date, who you spoke with and what the conversation detailed.
*Check your SOL for your state as well.
*Attorneys need to be licensed as a DC to collect, all DC's must be licensed in their state as well as yours if different.

Just because a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt does not mean you owe it
If a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt:

    1.    Demand the person give you his or her name, company name, and address
    2.     Demand a debt validation letter by US mail.  E-mail no good.
    3.    Do not pay  the collection agent or anyone else a  DIME  until the debt is validated.

Of course they won’t do this, no scammer ever will, so simply block their calls and ignore them.

    If they are bothering you,

    Report them:

    http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0149-debt-collection

Also contact your local attorney general

If they continue to bother you, and you know you do not owe any money,  tell them that you know this is  a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion.  You might have to yell at the scammer and talk over him or her.  Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the  file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved.   Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them.

I got a call from you guys today saying that I owe them money from an online loan from 2011 and she proceeded to say that I needed to pay them back or I was going to be sued $2000.00 and then she told me that if I didn't pay day. I would be going to court and then she said that she had all my information on my bank account from 2011 I told her I didn't have my checking account back then so there was no way that I could take it all out and she said while anyway we're going to sue you if you don't pay this back.

Received a call fro 844-279-4732 today harassing me for a pay day loan of $450 from 2013 -- never took out a pay day loan and I'm tired of getting calls -- who to report this to?

My daughter just received a call from this number...same thing, said they were "Stark Recovery" and said she took out a payday loan in 2013, and she now owes $2,600. According to the caller, she is being sued. She could settle right now for $980. He had her social security number, which is really freaking her out. She asked him which company it was from, he said Laser Lending. She's never done any business with Laser Lending. He then send Chase Lending. She also said that if she had something unpaid, she would have been served by mail. He said he was with Stark Recovery, but later in the call he said Stark Legal Group. I googled both and they exist. He said his name was David Lee. I told her it sounded like a scam. Then I see the posts on here with similar reports.

Have received 3 calls from this number since yesterday.  I don't answer calls from numbers I don't recognize or from blocked calls.  They did not leave a message.  I have never taken out a PayDay loan.  It scares me to think they may have my SSN.   If they call again, I'll answer just to see if it is the same scam, and then file a complaint.

I just signed-up for CenturyLink internet service (10/5) the day before these calls started (10/6).  Anyone else, or could this just be coincidence?

My husband and i received calls from this Stark Recovery llc saying they were collecting a debt. They asked for me, my husband would not confirm any thing so they refused to talk to him. They called my # but I lost connection. Didn't recognize the # and didn't call back. They got me today. They had my name, email, and my SSN. That scared me. They said I took out a $400.00 loan with the 7 Group in Nov. 2012 and that the payment had bounced. I was to pay $800 today by 5:00 or they were taking me to court for $2800.00. I told her I would call them back. I looked up The 7 Group which sent me to a site called Mutual Money. They never heard of me. I finally got a # for The 7 Group, they had nothing on me. I called the so called "litigators" back and told them the burden of proof was on them. I wanted proof of deposit,  account numbers, dates, names and copy of loan agreement. They hung up on me.

Scammers are prosecuted by the federal government and the state AGs all the time.  Remember, if you don't make a compliant you are absolutely guaranteed that no one will take action.  It takes complaints and a lot of them for action to occur.

Report a phone call from 844-279-4732:
