Wed., Jul 27 5:19 pm Allowed call to go to my answering machine.  Basically, the idea was that it was "CRA Tax Criminal Investigation Division" the person said he was Officer Robert William of the Canada Revenue Agency.  Myself or my recent Attorney needed to contact the office with an "or else" connotation ! ! !

Received a Call Last night at 5pm MST.Did not call back. I googled the number and it led me here - Claiming to HiJack my email and other PC Information if I didn't call back instantly. Let our IT department know about it. Its obviously a scam artist or I wouldn't be able to post this. Very annoying people. He sounded like he was from the Jersey/Boston area.  He did not wait for the beep to start his message so half of it was missed.

Yeah, I got this message as well.  Checked my CRA online account and there were no messages or updates whatsoever.  Also I'm poor and have very few assets... if there was something that weird about my account I think I'd know.  Definitely a scam.

    Disgusted!
This man called me and I called him out on his scam and hung up and he called me 3 times back to back and I told him I would call the cops and he started talking disgustingly and I hung up. He called me the 4th time and left me a voice mail of more disgusting verbiage!!! Do not trust this number! I want to report him- I've never been so freaked out by such a psycho in my life!

Just called my # but said they were from Northstar collections....which when googled is in NY. Same BS, "this is a civil case......and I proceeded to hang up.  These ppl really think the US Population is stupid   enough to not know that ANY debt owed has to be in writing....with proof of who it's owed to, amt, dates and a contact.  Not some threatening call . Also, it's against the law to impersonate an officer...so this jacka@## might change his tactics!!  Not gonna work with me.

The flimsy threats are used because they work, at least on enough victims to keep the lights and phones running. The seasoned extortionists are very good at manipulating emotional response and limiting a person's time to think rationally about the true nature of their fraud. Their fright stories need not be realistic, only convincing.
