844-284-8605

Left a message for us to call 1-519-383-0142 said something about an arrest warrant but the message sounds automated. I JUST DELETED it.

Just got home and there was message on my phone from 1-844-284-8605. Saved the message and here it is verbatim:

".....the lawsuit has already been filed against you at.........arrest warrant has been issued. To get more information about this case file please call us now at 844-284-8605. Thank you and have a great day."

The voice is an automated recording (computer voice). I dialed *67 and called them back - it was a recording saying they could not take my call at this time.

I contacted my local RCMP and reported it - constable advised there have been several similar calls going around the country and they are more than aware of the problem.

DO NOT GIVE OUT ANY INFORMATION TO THESE PEOPLE. THEY ARE SCAMMERS. Just report the call to the RCMP and they'll add you to an ever-growing list of people. Hopefully, with all of us reporting it, they can pinpoint these morons that much faster.

its the same msg i got today,i called my uncle who is with the city police department and he recorded it off my answering machine and has filed a complaint with the department to get the location from bell canada.

Call received.  Same as people have described above.  Total scam.

got same msg. Sounded like a scam, so i googled the number and here i see all ur comments relating to same msg.

was on the RCMp website,its a scam victimising people ,these peope are pretending to be from the Canadien revenue agaency.plz do not give out any information over the fone or threw you email

That's pretty awesome, Lisa!  Maybe something REAL can be done about this particular scammer.
Sadly, I don't think the CRTC wants to hear about scams.  Their DNCL is only oriented to preventing legitimate businesses from doing telemarketing.
As for the police, I don't think they care to hear from people reporting that they were merely called by a scammer (i.e. potential fraud averted).  I think they're only prepared to act if someone has actually been scammed.
I think the scammers are operating in the margins between these two areas.

do not answer phone with any number you do not recognize, let them leave a message, if they are a legitimate number call them back. if they are a scam delete them, there is no law that says you need to answer any call, ignore them they will get tired of calling those that do not answer.

Just got home.  Received the same message as Nova Scotia, Ava.  Received the same call 2 weeks ago.  3 weeks before that received 2 calls  same day.

same as all the others - arrest warrant - call the number - and have a good day - called just to see and the line was busy
