It is a company called Credence Resource Management. It's a third party debt collection agency. Look up their reviews. I guess people are claiming they are "scamming" them?

I had a feeling this company or whatever they are has a reputation for scamming people.  Glad I haven't responded.   Even sent a phony letter.    Leave me alone

I've been getting calls almost daily on my cell phone from this number and I'm not even remotely behind on any of my payments and I haven't had anything outsourced to a debt collection agency.  Not even sure how they got my number.  Just because someone shows as a debt collection agency doesn't mean the calls coming through are legit (especially if a scammer has altered their caller ID to show they are this agency).

I do not owe any debt.  I have received calls from family, lanords and , past employees that someone is looking for me. The person calling is vague, looking for information on me.   I'm a senior citizen.   Thanks to the internet and my grandkids I was able to research the call.   Scam or identy theft.  How this person acquired the number of family I have not spoke to in years myself concerns me.  Next step calling FCC and the police.

Someone keeps calling and asking for my roommate. When I take a message they give me the call back number of 844-362-5474, but the caller ID says 209-284-2678. When I ask what the call is regarding they tell me it's a personal matter and can't say anything more, even after telling them my roommate won't call back unless he knows the actual issue (or at least the company that's calling). The girl got kind of rude when I said that so I got rude right back and said that if she can't tell me more info, he won't call her back and hung up.

Like other I have been receiving almost daily calls from this number on my cell phone. In the beginning, since I didn't recognize the number, I didn't answer it. After a while I was curious and answered but didn't say anything. After a few moments the line would disconnect, which is when I realized it was a robo-caller system.

So I called the number back and was actually able to talk to someone. When they answered I simply said "I am calling from ###-###-#### and I would like you to take my off you calling list."  He repeated my number back to me, said it would be removed and apologized for the inconvenience.

I suspect over the next couple of weeks the calls should dwindle down to zero.

I bought a new phone from Sprint, got a new number, and this number started calling.  NO ONE has my number yet.

Have they stopped calling? They are calling here too.

Just because someone on the phone calling you says you owe a debt does not mean you actually owe it.

If a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt:

1.    Demand the person give you his or her name, company name, and address
2.     Demand a debt validation letter by US mail.  E-mail no good.
3.    Do not pay  the collection agent or anyone else a  dime until the debt is validated

Of course they won’t do this, no scammer ever will, so simply ignore them and block their calls.

If they are bothering you, report them:

http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0149-debt-collection (Threatening civil proceedings with no intent to follow through, or threatening criminal process in order to collect a civil debt is a  violation of the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.)  The same goes for endless telephone harassment

Note that the US Supreme Court in the Case of HENSON ET AL. v. SANTANDER CONSUMER USA INC., has recently ruled that the provisions of the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act do not apply if the creditor owns the debt in question.  As a practical matter this probably won't effect the kinds of scam debt collectors who often show up on 800notes.  The scam collectors don't give you any information about themselves so it is impossible to know whether or not they in fact "own" the debt in question.  Most do not send debt validation letters and many often say they are collecting for someone else.  So, make the complaint anyway if they are bothering you.  Let the FTC sort it out.

Also contact your local attorney general

If they continue to bother you,  and you know you do not owe any money, tell them that you know this is  a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion.  Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the  file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved.   Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them at whatever address the jack***es are working out of now.

You'll probably have to yell at them and talk over them.
You have to get tuff with these people because,  being akin to thugs, brute force is (metaphorically speaking).   the only thing they understand.

This # has called my cell phone several times a day for the past 2 weeks. I finally answered. I said they had reached a police department. They immediately hung up & they haven't called back since. That was 3 days ago. We'll see how long that lasts!!

Obnoxious. CALLS EVERYDAY. 2 TIMES IN A ROW EACH TIME. SCAM CALL.
