Call from 844-385-9042 to my DO-NOT-CALL-IN-CANADA land-line at 14:12 Pacific today.
Automated voice left the tail-end of a "CRA/seize-assets/person-to-visit-me" message on my voice-mail, stating that I must call 844-385-9044 (not '9042') to talk to them.

I cannot imagine the CRA leaving this message due to confidentiality issues.

HI, this person has been trying to call me for a long time. He left a message today saying that I needed to call him back and it was the CRA as well.

just called me. i don't think it is the cra he did not say who he was looking for and my machine does not say my name. he also sounded Asian and claimed his name was Ryan Smith lol good luck buddy not getting me.  i didn't even [***] work last year tax agency my [***]

A man claiming the name of Ryan Smith from Canada Revenue called me TODAY at precisely 1:05 PM today on my home phone. He did not address me by name, just kept repeating the number and that I was not to disregard this message, that I was to call them back. It came up 'unknown number.' So it seems to me that as I have caller ID on my phone that if it WAS Canada Revenue, that that name would show up on my phone! I'm not calling them back, and from now on I plan to ignore them. I see that others also received a call from this number, so it has to be a new scam going around. My live-in boyfriend wants to change our phone number to prevent these harassing calls, and I now I am in agreement with him. I'm on the Do NOT Call Registry list too, so I'd seriously like to know how these damn companies are easily able to overrule Canadian citizens wishes to not be contacted!! :(

Officer Ryan Smith from Canada Revenue Agency called & left a voice message threatening me in a strong |Mumbai accent not to ignore his call .
To call back or ask my Lawyer to call 844-385-9044 regarding tax filing

Called form this number, I told him that I needed his information to give to the Fraud Division of the RCMP, so he hung up quickly

I received the same call. Definitely a telemarketing firm. He identified himself as Ryan Smith from Revenue "of" Canada.

UPDATE ON THIS FRAUDULENT NUMBER!

Just to be sure, after I sent a message to Canada Revenue Agency on Twitter, and was given the actual number for the CRA, I spoke to a woman who told me that if the person is threatening you, it is NOT Canada Revenue! This guy 'Ryan Smith' (pffft...such a typical shady name for a scammer to choose) threatened me with saying I needed to get a lawyer and that I was to call him back immediately. I answered the phone (DUH) so why would I need to call you back?!!! So it is indeed a scam. She said that what I can do is call the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501. So this is what all of you can do should you receive a call from this number!

Same message at noon today in Fredericton.  Seriously when will they realize people are on to them.

The reason why we are trying to get in touch with you just to notify you there is a tax fraud suspected in your tax papers which need to be rectified immediately. So I need you to call me back and if you do not call me back I need your lawyer to call me back as soon as possible at  my direct number 844-385-9044. I repeat 844-385-9044. [dropped] regards this matter. call me back as soon as possible.  Again this is office Ryan Smith of Revenue of Canada.

June 16 this same message was on my answering machine.. Very angry sounding and threatening voice.. Indian accent.. Said "officer Ryan Smith".. And same wording as others.. Number he left was 855-888-5923 ..very upsetting to receive this threat!
