I have received calls from this number on 2 occasions. They left a voice mail saying "I have an important call from Hunter Warfield. This is from a debt collector. Please call 813-283-4588. " They do not say who they are calling FOR, to whom the debt is owed,etc...I assume they try to get the party to call back and then they question you to get more personal information. I have not called the number and have no intention of doing so as I have -0- debt and impeccable credit. However, it is suspicious that they leave a totally different return number from the one that show on caller ID.

You need to send them a certified, return receipt debt validation (by law they have to go back to the original creditor to prove you owe the debt), cease and desist calling, or "not me" letter (this will be the best money that you have ever invested).  Also send it first class mail in case no one will sign for it.  Make a notation of that fact at the bottom of the letter.  You also need to report them to the proper agencies to which I have provided links to.  Then you need to go out and get a consumer lawyer to sue them on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket) and let them pay you for the harassment.  If everyone did these three things, these crooks would be bankrupt and we would all be the richer for it.  Use these web sites to find an attorney in your state that will probably take the case on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket up front):  http://www.consumeradvocates.org/

Everything else you need to know follows including at least two agencies where you should report their criminal activities.

It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and (this is the important part) that they have the legal right to collect it.  You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid.

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

First, you should make a complaint at this Federal Agency, and while there you should also read up on how debt collection is supposed to work as well as what your rights in this matter are: https://www.consumerfinance.gov/

Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.

Meantime, they sell your information to the next scammer & your time and effort are wasted, because they =now= you're ready to go to great lengths to engage them. Best solution is to a 3rd-prty call blocker & an answering machine. The new "ringless voicemail" will make everything you just said irrelevant, they'll be able to drop a voicemail on your telcos VM system and fill up the box or at the very least force you to waste time clearing it. Instead of l these instructions, post a list of folks who have SUCCESSFULLY sued debt collectors on the Federal level. With the Trump regime's deliberate dissolution of the CFPB, you'll see these debt scammers become so common as to render our phones useless...

Blocked on GP, verified here - this one is new to me, never heard of "Hunter Warfield" - what are they, old debt buyers? Moxx nixx anyway, we all should simply block "unknown name" callers and let the national telephone grid deteriorate into a "friends and family" kind of service - whitelist call blockers work well for that...

Well I know of a lot of people who have successfully sued on the Federal level.  What Trump is doing with the CFPB has no bearing on a private FDCPA lawsuit.  All you have to do is look up how many lawsuits are filed and settled.  For instance, my neighbor sued a DC on the Federal level and got $15,000 out of the crook.  The woman in Kansas sued Portfolio and got $82 million out of them.  All of this could have been easily found on the internet by someone who wasn't so lazy that they didn't even try.
As to the "ringless voicemail" that is just icing on the cake.
It sounds to me more like you want people to do nothing.  Now why would you want that?

Oh look, anger and apathy, two things both the Great Leader's Cabinet and the collection industry need from you most to stay in destructive business. On the whole, it's the do-nothings who are targeted, exploited, and punished by rogue debt collectors. You know which consumers they fear most? The few who are "ready to go to great lengths to engage them". And yes, I do speak from personal repeated experience. No headline jackpots yet, but I make sure that my settlement checks leave a bruise.

BigA is suggesting that people invoke their rights, most of which need not make a path to the courthouse. You're suggesting that nuisance calls are the only problem. If that was so, the FDCPA could fit on an index card.

The success stories are out there, though some are hidden behind NDA. That's when you know some scofflaw got seared in a tender spot. A couple of forum sites specialize in private attorneys general, and their users often proudly display their "kills" in their post signatures. I know you'd prefer something more formal, so here ya go. Have fun building your list of winners:  https://dockets.justia.com

They have repeatedly called my number and often times it is a different 4 digits on the end. They have left messages and I have called them asking who they are trying to reach and they give me a name of someone I do not know. I have had the same phone number for 18 years so there is no one else who has had this number. I asked them to remove my number since I am not the person they are trying to reach. They call every week and sometimes multiple times throughout a day or every day of one week.

Complete scam.  Even if I owed these clowns any money (which I do not), I'd only agree to pay if the rude prick that called me came to collect in person.  What a tactic though, good stuff.  Unfortunately, I'm sure the hostility tactic probably works on  the occasional senior citizen.  Imagine having that job?

I’ve been getting calls from this number since April every 10 days. I didn’t realize at first because it’s an unknown caller and I seem to always be getting unwanted calls that I never answer. I got another call today and looked up the number to find they are scammers like I thought. I immediately blocked them and I finally checked my missed calls to see if they had called before, which is when I realized they’d been calling me for almost 3 months straight.
