Received a call on 06/20 at 08:40 claiming to be from BoA Fraud protection and stated that this call was being recorded.  A very robotic female voice asked if I was (my name).  I responded suspiciously YES.  The voice then asked me to provide the last four of my SSN.  My response was, "Yeah,  that's not going to f****ng happen."  I then hung up.  Something felt very odd about the call.

One Item of note.  I had recently been in contact with BoA about a fraudulant charge, so I called them back at the number listed in my online account information and verified that they had not been in contact with me on 06/20 and it was most likely a phishing attempt.  I informed them that they need to start an investigation to verify the security of their costomer intormation, and they informed me that that was standard practice.

People should still remain skeptical of texts and calls, even if the number is legitimate. Scammers take this into account when they spoof the number and hope their victims will also believe they are legitimately calling them , so they fall for the scam.
Always call the number on the back of the card if you believe BOA might have called you and never give up info to a caller.

I just received a text msg, allegedly from B  of A, saying there were two charges today on my card (they listed the correct last 4 digits), one at Newegg and one at Fry's electronics. To confirm these are ok then reply YES, if they are not valid then reply NO. i replied NO. I immediately received a text msg that my card is now restricted and to call this 844-585-0490 now. I googled the phone number and that led me to 800notes.com. Thanks to this web site. You saved me some aggravation!   Russell

I checked my B of A cc account online from my home computer and it turns out this text message was actually from B of A. There were fraudulent charges on my credit card. The phone number is from B of A. I cancelled my CC. ~Russell

I called that number it sounded like BoA answering recording asking for my credit card number or my last 4 digits of my SS# after I put my personal information they hunged the  phone. I called the real BoA located in my home town and they just told me that it was a scam that they don't have 844 numbers.. 😏

Same deal:" BoA, fraud prevention". SEEms legit.
Despite the fishy way of starting this kind of a conversation...
I would still hang up and dial a ## from credit card or a statement

Thanks for checking the number with Bank of America.  I received the similar text message and called 844-585-0490.  It sounded real but somewhat suspicious so I didn't enter 4 digits and just hung up the phone.  They may use the 4 digits for other scam....

this is the fraud dept of bank of America. they first texted me from this number to see if I wanted to authorize a charge which I did not (I texted back 'no') then they contacted me again and told me to call this number and when I did they straightened out the whole mess for me which consisted of cancelling the card and they sent me a new one

I got a scam call from this # on a Sunday. Didn't answer.

If you didn't answer, how do you know it was a scam call?

Just got the call. Sounds pseudo official, but did not answer. In the past BOA has stopped a suspicious usage and then notified us by mail with the details. Automatically canceled the current card and issued a new one. The call had 2 voices, 1 real and the other robo.

The voice message sounded like a scam. But there were fraudulent charges on our BOA credit card. This call was from BOA!
