- Gunnar replies to EllenThat wasn't a Process Server that called you. It was a SCAMMER! Process Servers don't call ahead of time & they NEVER leave messages! NOT EVER!
Be Safe. Be Aware.
Gunnar - BigA replies to EllenThere is no way to stop them from calling. This if the fake process server extortion scam. I would suggest that you make it clear to them they will not get one red cent from you and block their numbers.
First, you should make a complaint at this Federal Agency, and while there you should also read up on how debt collection is supposed to work as well as what your rights in this matter are: https://www.consumerfinance.gov/
Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.

- Lefty BI too got this phone call, said the same thing. I don't owe anyone either. He threatened me with a bench warrant, but we all know only criminal cases could do that. Not one time did he say who he was calling for or what it pertains too.

- Ryan“Local process server” exact same as all below comments, “made several attempts”, “can issue bench warrant”, etc. Called 844-585-0538, answered “Vaughn & Associates”, then called original caller number back 202-846-0388, and a woman answered “Law Office” and then immediately hung up. This is very suspicious, DO NOT give out personal information to these people.

- Cebdiva78Received several voicemails from a supposed "Process Server" saying that they had tried several times to serve me papers and left these numbers "844-585-0538 and 561-781-9856" to call if I wanted more information. They said that if I didn't respond or did not make myself available to be served the next day, I would be marked as evasive and a warrant could be issued. This got my attention because I was wondering what the hell I did to potentially have a warrant issued, so I called the number. Vaughn and Associates picked up and explained that they were trying to collect a debt for a credit card. They gave me the card account information and I told them that I didn't remember having the card let alone owing any money for a card, but would have to check my records,. They told me to call them back the next day and let them know what I wanted to do. Well, I checked my records and I did own the card and it was paid off in 2012.
I called them back the next day and told them that the card was paid off and when. They did not ask for any type evidence that the debt was paid. They informed me that they were going to continue with the process of suing me and I could explain to the court. I advised them that if I lose any time from work by appearing in court over a debt that was paid years ago, I would file a claim with the CFPB and FTC for violation of Federal Debt Collection Practices Act. I was then advised to "jump off a bridge."- Caller: Supposedly a Process Server

- EspeA message was left on my VM, it took a while before I looked at my VM because no one calls. I called the number where the call was made from (408-495-5500). The person that called said to call 844-585-0538 because it is out of his hand now but he had a summons to serve or citation and there would be a warrant for my arrest. Nonetheless, I did call the 408 495 5500 and McDaniels who called me answered the phone because I recognize his voice and I also asked for him. I asked him who he was looking for and he said that it is "Jose Mora" which is my brother that has not lived with me since 1980, and I don't know where he lives because he is now homeless. He said, "I will pray for him". I decided to call the 844 585 0538 number that he also provided because it was out of his hands. I spoke with Vaughn and Associates, and I was asking why I was being called and he said that I had an outstanding bill, but I said, "no way" my employer would let me know if I owe any money on credit cards. Next thing I know he hung on me
Then I called again, no answer except a VM, I called again a woman picked up and when I went on with my story she hung up on me.

- Scam.MagnetI received the same voicemail message today. I called back and I was hung up on twice. I called back AGAIN and I was told all of the above. I asked for original loan documents and the kid danced around my request. I asked again. He danced. Forget it. I'm changing my debit card number, just in case.

- NickYa, I got the same call too, thank goodness for sites like this where you can look these numbers up and find out that it’s only a scam. I listened to the voice mail the guy left and doing a good job of sounding all official, he did such a good job that right then it started sounding like a scam. I learned a lot here like servers don’t call first and that you don’t get bench warrants for credit card debts, hell I have been in so much debt before that I would probably have a nice collection of warrants already. Thanks again and God bless us all, everyone!!!
