Called from an unknown number asking for my mother and that she had a "sealed envelope".  She was only the messenger and that I needed to have my mom call another number and gave me a reference number. I called that number back, but did not give the reference number or name. I asked what the name of the company was, but they didn't give me an answer. I asked what type of business they were and he told me they do lots of different things like litigation, liens, etc... (As he laughed.). I said my mom doesn't have any lawsuits or liens and he said "I've heard that before" and began to be rude.

This number called me about a 10 year old hospital debt. The cost they told me I had to pay was 3800.00 hundred dollars on a hospital bill. They would only say that they were the legal team for the hospital. When I called the hospital they informed me that the 89.00 dollars was considered a hospital bill. They threaten jail and lawsuit among otherb thints. Please help.

Urgent matter but no information

I also just received a call from a restricted number with a message to return the call to 1-844-664-8263 and reference a file number. If I did not return the call I would face whatever penalty (which they did not disclose) and blah blah blah..  While doing some follow-up research I found the link below noting this exact number. This link is a warning from the Johnson County Sheriff's Department about a phone scam. While the type of scam they speak of is not the same thing they tried to pull on me, it is verification that this number is being used for fraudulent purposes. Thought I would post in case it helps others who are being harassed.
