Claims to be blue cross calling with "important information" but then wants you to provide (not confirm) your name your birthday etc; I think it's a phishing scam.

SCAM- hang up as soon as they ask for your date of birth.

Robo dial with computer generated name pronunciation asking for a return phone call for "important information" and so I Googled the number before dialing and looks like others also suspected it was a scam. The real company has my address to communicate in writing, like they usually do, and the doctors office talks to them whenever necessary. I won't call back at the number they left. It was not the same number as appeared on caller ID anyway.

I got the exact same call today, but the message was left on my answering machine. I was scared to call the number back in case it was a scammer. Like you posted, the message said that they wanted to verify my information, but they wanted me to provide it. Does anyone else know if this is legitimately from Blue Cross or not?

Call or left a message on my answering machine claiming to be from Blue Cross of Louisiana. It was an automated call, and they wanted me to confirm certain personal information fax, such as my date of birth phone and Social Security number. I think it is a scam and I never called them back.

Robo-call, recorded message on my office phone and asked for my wife with "important information" and asking to call back.  Number was different from caller ID, which also showed Blue Cross of LA instead of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Louisiana.  I've communicated with them before and they would never do something like this.  Likely a phishing scam and did not call back.
