- Anonymous| 1 replyThey called and left a voicemail claiming to be a rapid delivery service with a reference number. I called them back private and asked them what type of business it was and they said it was asset recovery. So basically it’s some type of collection agency and they don’t give you any information and they’re very rude. So they can keep looking for whatever they’re looking for they’re not gonna get it for me

Every call is private, so not sure what you mean, unless to meant that you tried to block the caller ID with *67, which does not work on toll free numbers.Quote:I called them back private...... - MikeHuntletonDebt Extortion Scammers
Carrier Services and Process Servers do not know what is contained in the documents they are paid to serve/deliver. They don't cold call a recipient to inform them of a "failed attempt to deliver", as that would alert the recipient someone is attempting to Serve them. Anyone explaining what they are delivering, saying "matter attached to your SSN", "you have officially been notified", "deliver legal docs and to have ID ready" or offering an alternative "solution" to avoid delivery is a scammer. Real process servers don't need to set a time to deliver any documents nor do they threaten legal action if you don't call them.
The vague scare tactic message is designed to panic a victim into calling back.
Most debt collectors will use a certain amount of pressure to convince you to pay the debt. After all, they often don't get paid unless you pay. Be suspicious of a debt collector who uses an unusual amount of pressure to get you to pay immediately, particularly if they also use scare tactics to get you to pay right away. For example, a debt collector is scamming you if it :- threatens you with a lawsuit and tells that you can avoid the lawsuit by paying right away
- Says a Process Server or Courier is coming with papers to sign
- Threatens to call / go to your place of employment
- Insists you have been notified, served or are non-compliant via phone message(s)
- Refuses to give a company name or verifiable Contact source
- Refuses to send proof of debt via US mail
A sure sign of a debt collection scam is a collector that wants to you to pay via wire transfer or another method that can't be traced. If the payment method can't be traced, you'll have a harder time getting the authorities involved.
If the creditor sounds completely foreign, or you know you never had an account with that business, there's a chance it's a scam. Never pay a collection you don't recognize. You have the right to request written proof of the debt from the debt collector before you send payment.

•A company works with you, not against you. - WomanThey called from a blocked number which went straight to my voicemail (Stumbling over words and couldn't get out what they wanted to say, like they were nervous). They claimed to have an URGENT message to deliver that is at the office for my mother and to give a call back. I called regarding the manner and it def seemed like a scam. They said they didn't have my mother contact which is weird bc she hasn't changed her number in over 15 years. I asked what company and the response i got was a government collection agency and by not providing them with her number would get her in more trouble. I just laughed and said okay. He was very rude and hung up the phone.

- Brona AddisonI got the delivery company phone call first with the toll free number. I called and was told I was going to be served in my county for a debt I paid off years ago but no longer have the paperwork for. I also was scammed on this same debt a few years back but never received the paperwork promised. The guy I spoke to was very intimidating and spoke over me often. He threatened that they could take my car giving me the make and model. I told him to go ahead because it was dented and needed brakes, clutch and other things. Then he wanted to settle the debt so another 2 thousand of lawyer fees would not be added. I told him I was on Social Security and he couldn't get blood from a turnip. He said that they would get a judgement to take it out of my banking accounts. Then he came up with the idea of getting one of my children to pay it with a credit card and I could pay them back at 40 dollars a month. After a very stressful call where he said he was sending me an email with details, the call ended.
Not long after that I get a phone call from my daughter. Her husband had received the same phone call from Rapid Delivery and the same number to call. I told her about my phone call and she did research and said this is a scam.
How can I be getting these calls from a purchase my late husband made in the early 90's? He died on 1993 and this Chase Bank card has been paid off and I got the joy of being scammed over the same thing?- Caller: WAC
- spowerthey've been calling for over a year. very rude and wont give info
- Anonymous PigeonCalled and left a voicemail saying they had an item, gave the person’s name (not me) and claimed the number they called was the number on file for a long-deceased individual in my family. I didn’t even have the number the person was alive! I didn’t call back since it was an obvious scam, and it’s horrible of them to have brought up a person I loved dearly who is no deceased. He had an outstanding debt years ago that we got resolved but this is probably related to that.

- Happy HolidaysCalled and said they had a delivery and I needed to call back with the confirmation and driver info. I often get legitimate deliveries. Looked up the phone number. Scam. This is why no one picks up their phones anymore and doesn’t have VM. My phone only rings if it’s from a number I already have saved. I made the mistake of picking up this “unknown” call. Go earn your money like this rest of us and get a legit job or start a business. You’re the worst of society and contribute nothing.
