CID= TOLL FREE CALL.   Caller hung up after three rings.

This seems to be a legit Amex # for card offers. I haven't verified the number or the  'offer' but they seems know my personal data. Odd when we need to vet the caller as well as them verifying us.

Called Amex, who said there is no such number in their system!

Got a call, thanks for the previous posts.  I don't think American Express would identify themselves as AMEX.

Called both my work and cell number claiming to be American Express. I called the number on the back of my card to see if it was legitimate, the agent said it WAS them.  It's a marketing number from American Express.

So you know who called you but rushed to a phone number look-up site anyway? Why? And just because it was (supposedly) a legitimate call for you doesn't mean it is for other people. Scammers spoof legitimate numbers all the time.

Called this number back and they tried to get me to update to my American Express business gold card with one that provides more travel rewards for a higher annual fee.

Caller ID said "PRC LLC Cutler" - A Jasmine called my cell, office and home within 2 minutes.  Left short voice mail claiming from American Express. I answered at office.  Claims to want to review American Express account. I asked to be put on do not call list.  They have tried to call in past.  I think upsell call center for Amex.  Here is transcript: Hi my name is Jasmine I'm calling for American Express try to reach out to XX XX. So if you would please give me a call back at 844-868-5336 ext. 6104x

Left two messages.  One on house phone, one on cell phone.  Said was James from American Express. Knew my name.  The call just didn't sound right.  I called American Express Customer Service and they said they do use third parties to promote their services bu they have no record of the number that showed up on my caller ID or the number I was asked to call back.  Beware

Called to as for the cardholder (wife), stating it was a "security issue".  I asked if it was a sales call and the response was "I can only discuss it with the cardholder."  To me, that's not a straight forward answer and very suspicious.  Also addressed company as "AMEX", rather than the standard "American Express".  Representative (named  Malin) left a call back number of 844-868-5336 ext 61965,

American Express telemarketer. Called cell, didn't leave message. Immediately called work number. Said they were American Express but no issue with card. Needed to speak with card holder and they would call back. This is AMEX selling your info to telemarketers. They sent me a letter saying they would do this unless I opted out. Scumbags.

I contacted AMEX to report a possible fraud call.  The customer service got me to the department this number is for and they offered me another special AMEX Blue card.  It's a similar offer to when you log into your account, but now they are calling you at home to offer it.
