Called my cell.  Claimed to be from Microsoft Support.  I am a Microsoft employee (programmer), and here's the truth:
1)  There is no way that Microsoft can tell if you have a problem with your computer.
2)  There is no way that Microsoft can associate your phone number with any computer.
3)  Microsoft does not care if you have a problem with your computer.
4)  Microsoft does not initiate ANY cold-call contact with ANY Microsoft customer.
If you get a call from someone claiming to be from "Technical Support" HANG UP.  All they want is access to your computer so they can plant a virus, and then charge you to remove it.  But they never actually remove it, even if you pay them.  It's still there, ready to re-activate at some future date so you have to pay them again.

Called from this number and 5 others. Caller ID showed Extensions Audio. Not So. Never leaves a message. Suspicious number(s)

Rang phone then left msg stating someone was attempting to hijack my computer.  Call 845-478-9925 for tech support. Finally "Apologizes" if they got a wrong #

I received a call from 845-478-9925. It left a message indicating "My information may have been compromised and to call this number immediately, etc." I knew it was a phishing call and will block it permanently.

Just called but left no message. Thank goodness I did'nt answer given other reports. I just got the new Office package so might have been duped. Thank you who did report this
hoax.

Phone message was that someone has hacked my computer and my account will be shut down

Left message about someone trying to hijack my computer, and that if they succeeded, my computer would be obsolete and my files lost, so call their security team. Sure...

Caller ID showed "Root Technology" from New City, NY. Do not who they are and have never heard of them. A robo voice left a cutoff voicemail stating same as above that "my service is obsolete and all my personal information may have been compromised." I was to call the number shown. You betcha. On my way now, Dude! Why in the world would anyone think I would believe a bogus company from a location I never heard of be able to detect something was wrong with my computer or whatever from so far away. And, of course they expect me to call them and thank them for calling me to let me know about this at my home land line where 99.99% of the calls are nothing but bogus calls from bogus companies that violate the 'DO NOT CALL' registry in violation of federal law. Go away and g scam your grandmother.

Call from “Root Technology” claiming someone was hacking my computer and only they can help. I asked the jerk to take my phone number off his list and he hung up on me. I reported this number to the FCC. So sick of these jerks.

Canned message, Your computer may be at risk, please call this number. Yea right..

Post at top of the list regarding Microsoft is correct. These people are scammers and have no scruples about extorting money from unaware computer users.

Automated phone call telling me it was MIcrosoft and my computer was being hijacked.  Press1 and they could fix it.  I hung up. I am in NJ and the call originated from NY so isn't this some sort of federal violation as it crosses state lines?

Just got this call. Didn't answer. Thank god for this site, I know for a fact this was a scam call now. Blocked in case they try calling again.

Parents claimed that someone called because their computer was trying to get "hacked." I knew it was some scam of some sort and surprise, surprise, it is. Just ignore this number

I had my phone number hijacked a few years ago by the dark web... and this is comical that they can not come up with better scams that make sense. The first day the IRS called me the second day it was Microsoft. I want the president Trump to call next so I can really laugh

Caller ID +84 54789925 Viet Nam. I don’t think it’s a coincidence it’s the same number sequence as these scammers. Left no message
