- NAS| 9 repliesCalled my cell. Claimed to be from Microsoft Support. I am a Microsoft employee (programmer), and here's the truth:
1) There is no way that Microsoft can tell if you have a problem with your computer.
2) There is no way that Microsoft can associate your phone number with any computer.
3) Microsoft does not care if you have a problem with your computer.
4) Microsoft does not initiate ANY cold-call contact with ANY Microsoft customer.
If you get a call from someone claiming to be from "Technical Support" HANG UP. All they want is access to your computer so they can plant a virus, and then charge you to remove it. But they never actually remove it, even if you pay them. It's still there, ready to re-activate at some future date so you have to pay them again.- Caller: Phony Microsft Support

- AnonymousCaller ID showed "Root Technology" from New City, NY. Do not who they are and have never heard of them. A robo voice left a cutoff voicemail stating same as above that "my service is obsolete and all my personal information may have been compromised." I was to call the number shown. You betcha. On my way now, Dude! Why in the world would anyone think I would believe a bogus company from a location I never heard of be able to detect something was wrong with my computer or whatever from so far away. And, of course they expect me to call them and thank them for calling me to let me know about this at my home land line where 99.99% of the calls are nothing but bogus calls from bogus companies that violate the 'DO NOT CALL' registry in violation of federal law. Go away and g scam your grandmother.
