Called four times back to back while I was driving, left no voice mail.

Called twice yesterday and once today. Just blocked it.

Said i was being sued for unpaid debt from a company I never got a loan from specially since it’s a payday loan which is illegal in New Jersey so I couldn’t get one anyway they are trying to “serve” you over the phone which is not how it’s done they would not warn you about being served lol had my bank and lawyer call they hung up both times on them doesn’t even have a legit voice mail box and it’s full no debt collector would have a voicemail like they have and have it full let a lone use a cell phone

Very rude.  Refuse to provide information about the company they work for and said if i wasn't the person then not to concern myself.  I told them not to call back.

Refusing to give company information upon request is a violation of the FDCPA! - which is all you need to know about the caller.  It is also illegal to give information to a third party!

Showed up as "suspected spam caller" they left a voicemail for someone I have never heard of:

My Name is Kathy Johnson. This important message is for Daniel Morrisy. I have a fax order for delivery scheduled for you. We have made several attempts to reach you. We will make a final attempt to reach you at your place of employment and or residence regarding proper delivery of documentation. To schedule an alternate location please call 1-855-215-6179 regarding this matter.

I just got the same call as the person above...the one starting out ... my name is Kathy Johnson.  I let it go to voice mail...this is the second time they called looking for Theresa Bush...no one here by that name.  I just googled the phone number  (855-215-6179) and came up with your page.

Called and left no mgs I called back and this rude female answered and stated they are garnishing debt company. So I asked who they were looking for and she disconnected the line.

Very ignorant lady told me they are serving me I owe this much money for a pay day loan! I told her I never had a pay day loan then she listed my relatives and their ages, told me my ss number and drivers license number!!!! Omgs how do they know all of this personal information? That’s scary you can even apply for something any more cuz they will sell your information! I asked her to send me papers in the mail! She said I’m not sending you anything this is your final warning! I said ok but I have never had a pay day loan! She called me a liar and said how do I know everything about you? I said I don’t know where you got it from but I never had a payday loan! She told me if I called back or will go straight to her desk, so don’t even bother! What a pos

Told me I owed something from 2011 for a payday loan,,  Had way too much personal info about me!  Told them I had a degree in Criminolgy he told me to shove degree up my s$$..  How nice!

This is a criminal spam call that leaves a message about unspecified documents and urges you to call back so they can try to get your personal info and use it to commit identity theft and steal money from your bank account.

I got the same phone call it said hi my name is Kathy Johnson looking for Valerie. D we have made several attempts to contact you but have been unsuccessful they said that they would reach me at my place of employment I asked what this is in reference to and they said it was a checking account that I never had only saving they wouldn't give me much information and they took 367 out of my current bank

What a bunch of friggin idiots! these guys are illegitimate scam artist. They really think that this fake call with scare people to pay money they don’t owe. These morons should spend more time looking for a real friggin job!

Threatening to serve my wife at her job. I’ve had these calls on and off since 2012. Amazing nothing has been done about these crooks.

They are looking up your credit report. Same crap is happening to me as well.

While it might be possible for them to be looking up a credit report, that would give them away.  There are many, many, many places they can get all of that information and usually for free on the internet.

The fake process server extortion attempt usually consists of the following:

They mention that they have received a Fax document or some sort of complaint and that there is a pending legal matter or action about to filed against you to create the sense of urgency.  They tell you that they are a “process server” and cannot give you the particulars of the case since the file is sealed. This is simply ruse to get you to call another number (often with a made-up case number) where they will ask for money to “make it go away” (this is actually the same place, they work in teams, one pretending to be the server, and the other usually pretends to be a lawyer).  They threaten to serve you at home or at work.  They tell you that if they serve you at work then they will need a supervisor, security, or HR person there as a witness, hoping that will cause you to panic over the alleged embarrassment of being served at work.  They also tell you that you will need two forms of ID.  None of which is true.  Process servers do not ever call ahead so that you can dodge them.  Process servers get paid to serve papers, nothing else.  They certainly are not going to pass up a paycheck by telling you that you can avoid being served, they are not going to give you an extra day or even a few hours to get a “stop order”.  Court documents are time sensitive and must be served within a certain amount of time.  Remember that you can always call the local courthouse to see if there really is a lawsuit that has been filed against you.

It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and (this is the important part) that they have the legal right to collect it.  You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid.  

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.  If and when you get that letter you should immediately send that debt validation letter by certified, return receipt mail.
