They called claiming to be calling about serving papers to someone we do not know and that they would be verifying places of employment to serve papers “on the other persons behalf”

Same thing here, my buddy is an attorney and he said real courts WILL NEVER call you to serve you any kind of paper, they will use certified mail or someone to serve the doc in person.  What I’m concern about is how did they get my info

They called me and said I own money to online said I got a lone 6 years ago and told me the would take me to court if I don’t pay

Constantly getting calls from a private caller leaving no voice messages, now calling multiple family members.  It turns out they’re calling from 855-215-7009 stating they’re “ARA” a law firm saying charges will be pending against me due to an old debt from an online cash advancement & have been trying to serve a summons to me at work or home. This is a 5 year old debt!

They had my last 4 of my SSN, DOB, and the person they were going to have me served for is the ex bf of my sister in law.  We happen to have the same first and last name.  So, is that a scam or what?!  How do they have so much accurate info?

Received a voice mail message from ARA 855-215-7009 stating I was listed as a point of contact for someone I do not currently know (a common name) claiming there is a case against them but need to serve me on their behalf.f.I am very sure this is a scam. I PERSONALLY WAS A FINANCE COLLECTOR FOR MANY YEARS!  (and you don't give out personal info on a voice mail, ie. DOB/SSN. But I am very concerned that they knew my DOB, last 4 digits pf SSM, and say they have an address. for me. I'd like to know what address but not sure I want to come them back; although I did dial the phone # and extension after hours, and got a recording and voice with the name of iindividual calling me. I'm reporting this to the FTC 877-FTC-HELP tomorrow.
