- kristineThis number 718-134-5678 called my roommate 4x's. On the 5th she answered the call. The person assumed she was talking to me asking for information about me.
When my roommate realized that it wasn't for her... even though the woman kept talking... and told the woman that she wasn't Kristine (woman also gave my middle initial and it was wrong. Pronounced my name incorrectly, also) all of a sudden she couldn't give out anymore information. Though she asked if either of us would be home (tomorrow) because someone would be by to serve papers for something? Roommate said we would not be home (I hope my apt is not broken into). The person gave this number for me to call 855-233-8882. Go ahead and google it.
Scam. I would like to know who calls a roommate looking for someone. If you google my name it's pretty easy to find me and to call me directly. - Judy| 6 repliesI received a call from 951-134-5678 calling my cell phone. She didn't even introduce herself and was very rude. She kept talking etc.. saying that she got a summon to Appear in court to served me with at home. Once I heard that, I was like wait... Who are you? where are you calling from? she still didn't tell who she was or where she is calling from. She told me to call 1-855-233-8882 with a case #. And I still trying to get this all into my head.. So I asked her who she wanted? she said Ken. I told her I do not know anybody by the name of Ken. She was still being herself RUDE.. telling me she got my cell number because Ken put me as his contact number. So I told her that she got the wrong number and wrong infor. I hang up on her cause I do not want to listen to her. So after hanging up I went online Google up her number and the 855 number. And I didn't find much beside this site. I am wondering if this is a scam? I would like to know how they got my number when I am on the 800 no call list.

- sid replies to Judy| 3 repliesOf course it's a scam. When she mentioned the summons and court she was setting you up so that when you called the number, The person on the other end would continue the scam by offering to mediate or make the thing go away for a settlement price. This scam is recent but it has already been over used by the trash who are using it. Don't worry about it and don't call any numbers...just don't answer or pick up then hang up.
- Alfalfa replies to sid| 2 repliesConsumers across the country report that they're getting telephone calls from people trying to collect on loans the consumers never received or on loans they did receive but for amounts they do not owe. Others are receiving calls from people seeking to recover on loans consumers received but where the creditors never authorized the callers to collect for them. So what's the story?
The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:
is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.
If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.
Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft – charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.>

It is there to keep honest businesses and honest people honest. These are scammers you are dealing with and the DNC means nothing to them. It's like putting a "Do Not Rob" sign on the front door of a Bank. - Sir Bedevere replies to daveDave sez: "...like putting a "Do Not Rob" sign on the front door of a Bank."

- KeithI received a call asking if I was going to be home so to expect a summons to appear in court. I was then given a number to call back, (855-233-8882) which belonged to some company called KR & Associate's. I called this number but I was smart on what was going on.
Now to let you know, there is no agent or agency that is going to call you to make sure you are home receive a summons to appear in court. They are just going to keep knocking at your door and going to your job to hand you the summons them selves. When all that fails they will then send to your address and if that don't work, then a bench-warrant is issued. But they are not going to call you first......
Now I have another thing in place. I record all my phone calls. When someone like my self works from home, I can not afford not recording my calls, and any legit business will not have any problems with your recording the calls you have with them. Most times they would be grateful.
So I call that number back and they asked me for a case number. I never got one so I told them that and they asked me for my first and last name. Knowing that there are, in this town alone, 5 different people with the same first and last name as my self, I went ahead and gave them the info they asked for. The first call I received seem to verify that they had my name anyways since they asked me by name. After a short moment they raddled off a number to me and I asked how they got a case number since they don't have my middle name, or any identification numbers. . . . . (BINGO.. The awkward pause)
This was when I decided to inform them that the previous call was recorded and the number from which has been written down and the call I was on now with them is being recorded. . . . . (AGAIN.. The awkward pause)
Then the female on the other end of the phone said, "ok, you have a nice day" and hung up on me.
I tried to call again and the same female said, "I don't authorize you to record me" and then hung up.
As I am going through this, I find that the FTC, (Federal Trade Commission) had received complaint about the number, (855-233-8882)
I called the number again when the "SAME" female answered and I asked why the FTC has complaints on then, she said, "I don't know, have a nice day" and hung up.- Caller: KR & Associates

- SHANUN19| 2 repliesI RECIEVED A CALL TODAY FROM THIS # BUT WHEN IT CAME IN IT SHOWED UP AS 1-276-134-5678 AND THE # I WAS GIVEN TO CALL BACK WAS 855-233-8882. SHE CARRIED ON WITH ASKING IF I WAS GOING TO BE HOME, BLAH, BLAH, WHEN I ASKED WHO SHE WAS CALLING FOR SHE SAID MY NAME , MIS-PRONOUNCED ALSO. LIKE MANY HAVE ALREADY STATED. I ASKED WHAT ADDRESS SHE HAD AND ALL SHE SAID WAS A NORTH CAROLINA ADDRESS AND MY PHONE # IS A VIRGINIA #. WHEN I ASKED HER WHERE SHE WAS CALLING FROM SHE SAID NORTH CAROLINA. WHICH OBVIOUSLY WAS A LIE SINCE I HAVE A VIRGINIA # AND THE # SHE CALLED FROM WAS SAME AREA CODE IS THE THE AS MINE.
SO EITHER WAY, I PLAYED HER LITTLE GAME CALLED THE 855-233-8882 AND IT WAS THE SAME LADY ON THE ANSWERING MACHINE AS WHO CALLED ME. AFTER I HEARD THE SAME VOICE THAT COULDNT GIVE ME ANY INFORMATION WHEN SHE CALLED ME. I HUNG UP. (I CALL * BS* FOR THIS CRAP)

- xxxxxxI fell for this scam, I wish I would have googled this number while on the phone with these people....
To those humans who are currently stealing:
I know you don't understand what you are doing- stealing -, your souls are dead, you live in a fog, consumed with evil. I understand this, we've all been there. But our conscience is what can make us or break us. I know evil is what drives you and you don't listen to the goodness the soul gives all humans. I kept praying, that I knew you really needed my money more than my children, this gave me comfort and still does.
Thank you for giving me this experience. In all things and people there's goodness we must find it.- Caller: FML or FMC Management
- raqueli received a call today stating pretty much the same thing. Case number, court summons,call the 855-233-8882 number, etc. They wanted to speak to my husband. When I informed them that he was not available they then spouted off the last four of his social # and said something about third party privacy. They said they had to deliver a summons for civil court and when I asked what it was regarding the man was rud and said my husband should know to go ask him. They said that asummons would be delivered tomorrow and that he needed to call to set up a delivery time.
- AnneMy mom and I have both been receiving phone calls from 205-134-5678, and Alabama based number. She lives in AL, and I only recently moved. Same story as all the previous posts. I answered, and the man I spoke to wouldn't give me any information, but did say it was regarding scheduling time to deliver court summons. I was given the 855-233-8882 number to call as well, and when I did, the man who answered was incredibly rude, neither person I spoke to ever gave the "this is an attempt to collect a debt..." that debt collectors are legally required to give. The man at the second phone number wanted the last 4 of my SS#, but of course I wouldn't give it to him. He wouldn't speak to me after that. In fact he hung up on me.
Just to give anyone who is nervous about whether this is real or not- I asked my sister-in-law, who is an attorney to please check to see if there are any court cases with my name attached. She checked both my maiden name (the name these people had) and my married name, and found nothing. So, this is definitely a scam.- Caller: Franklin Moss & Ass.
