got a call today said they were calling from Blue Cross Anthem

I got the same call today (855-233-9871). Need to know if it is legit. Does anyone know?

I got the same call yesterday. I don't know if it's legit either.

Received this call today and previously two weeks ago. The message left is in the middle of the message and is garbled and hard to understand. It says something about “… thank you for informing him about this important message…” and then there is a number for the apparently intended recipient to call that is barely understandable and I had to listen to it twice to get it. I called the number – 855-233-9871 – from my office phone and the message said it was Blue Cross and asked for me to enter my phone number for ID verification. I entered a number for a business that I know is a good number and the reply was that the number was not an active member’s number.

So, long story short, sounds really fishy. But I do have their insurance??? So if it is really important they will use my e-mail contact like they do for everything else.

I called the number back and they ask me to confirm the number that the message was left on. So if you enter a different number it will not work. It was just to remind me that my benefits for pre-screening are available and that I should take advantage of them. They did not ask for any information that they did not already have.

I also called Anthem and they did confirm that they have automated systems that make these calls. However, they did not have a listing of what phone number was used to make these calls.
