Is it a scam . Message stated Microsoft warning

Wanted to fix my computer because it had a virus on it. Total scam India accent

DO NOT CALL... This number is a well known India scam. You are led to believe that your computer has been infected with a virus/malware. If you call the number and speak with a customer 'support' they will instruct you to look for files on your computer, claiming proof positive that you've been infected with a virus/malware. Truth is they have shown you files you need on your computer. Once they've convinced you of the danger, they then request to connect to your computer and for a fee they claim to have resolved the problem; except what they've actually done is to infect your computer with a real virus/malware, then you kick yourself for calling an India scam center.

Email stated it was in re: to a security check from my bank and there were to many attempts to login and to call this number. Thank you all for information. I of course checked with my bank so I knew it was a scam!

Received an email from 'Account Security' in my Spam folder saying there had been too many login attempts to my account. "If this was not you please call now. Your account may be at risk." Laughingly, they don't say what account. A bank account or credit card or Netflix? Who knows. Very amateurish. I didn't open the email - I have Gmail set to show email content without opening.

Also received an email from "Account Security" in my spam folder. It said the same thing as above comment, but deleted it. Was just curious as to what the phone number was linked to. Delete whoever gets this email!!
