Said they were from Blue Cross/Blue Shield NM calling to tell about plan details & to update their info. Wanted to me "confirm" my name, address, last digits of plan group, Social Security #, etc. I stopped them & told them I  wouldn't over the phone, but would do any updating online.  Was told I couldn't do all of it on online. I said I'd call the # on the back of my card. The "doctor" I was speaking to insisted I call back to:
855-277-8353.

I called BC/BS NM and they said they NEVER call to update info and also said that number does not belong to them in any capacity. Was put through to BC/BS Fraud Dept. Immediately. A friend of mine was also contacted.

BC/BS NM says DO NOT release or confirm ANY information. They DO NOT MAKE CALLS LIKE THIS!!!

Call was on Friday, May 15, 2014.

I was also called by 855-277-8353, with someone claiming to be with Blue Cross. I asked them to mail or email the questionnaire.  Then they waited a week and called back!

I received a call as well asking me to verify all of my information and when I refused to give out any information the Lady explained it was just for my benefit.
Spoke with BCBS and was informed that they do no make outbound calls to update information and only ask for information to verify when calling in to them.

I have been getting robocalls from this number at least once daily for several weeks stating they were from Blue Cross Blue Shield and needed to talk to me and left a reference number to use when I called back.  Instead, I called the BCBS number on the back of my policy card and they had no idea who this number is and no record that they needed to talk to me about anything.  She suggested I just call this number back to see what they want.  The guy on the phone said "Thank you for calling Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Mexico" and asked for my name and date of birth.  When I told him I wouldn't give information to him as I had just called Blue Cross and they said they had no idea what this number was and looking at my records, they were not calling me and didn't need anything.  He then told me he is contracted by Blue Cross and not really part of their company and then again asked for my information (never once asking for the reference number they left on the robocall) so he can tell me how to better use my benefits and offer me other benefits as well.  I told him I was not interested and not to call back.  He was still babbling when I hung up the phone.  Maybe he was contracted by Blue Cross Blue Shield to welcome me to the company but if that's the case, why doesn't the real customer service know anything about it.
