- SMThe same thing just happened to me - a call from First National Arbitration Services saying there was a returned item from my bank. They didn't say a name or file number on the message. I'm suspicious.

- JDyeah, i just got the same call. they've been calling for the past 3 days. never say my name, or give me a file number. sounds like a scam.

- RhynoBytes| 8 repliesBottom Line: While the call is rudely intimidating, suspicious-sounding, and very unprofessional, it does appear to be referencing a valid debt collection claim. But, you have to call them to find out if that claim is actually against you.
I got the same call, exact same deal as other comments here. Disguised-sounding voice, left no name, left no file #. I verified that the 855# was in fact toll-free (http://search.tollfreenumbers.com/Lookups.asp?acode=855&pnumber=287-0071) so I called it. After I gave them my phone number, they looked it up and asked if I was "Bobby <Last Name>". I am not Bobby, but I have gotten dozens of calls from various bill collectors seeking him over the past 3 years since I moved here and apparently got re-assigned his old phone number. I told them this, and they said they would remove my number from Bobby's account.
Before calling, I also looked up the business with the BBB (http://www.bbb.org/buffalo/Business-Reviews/c ... o-ny-235964305/). They give the business an F (on an A+ to F scale), citing reasons:
BBB does not have sufficient information to determine how long this business has been operating
Failure to respond to 4 complaints filed against business
2 serious complaints filed against business
BBB does not have sufficient background information on this business
The company info listed with the BBB is:
First National Arbitration Service

- AM replies to RedzI started getting these two. It is a scam the company does not exsits. They want your information to scam you or they try and make you pay money you dont owe. They have been calling me and I have not had a bank account in year and never write checks only used card.
- AM replies to RhynoBytes| 2 repliesI find that hard to believe. I have never written a check or used my debit card when I didnt have the funds to cover my item so how could I have a returned item. Plus I have not had a bank account for many years.
- am replies to RhynoBytes| 3 repliesNot to mention that the website your provided does not even match the debt collectors name
- lmI received the recording stating to call because of a returned item to my bank. The man never left the reference number. When I called back a man was very unprofessional and asked if I was waiting publishing clearing house. He said he was collecting a debt, he was rude and yelled at me until I hung up. I called back and got another person who appologized for the other persons behavior. I'm not sure if they are legite or not. I've googled them and haven't heard any positive things. It took me 3 phone calls to pull out the information that it was a pay day loan which I doubt I had. I contacted the original creditor and they told me they sold the acct to another collector so who knows how many times this account has been sold. I was also told the debt was 2 years old and I had until today to make arrangements or they would prosecute me. Can they do that? I don't have anything in my name and I don't have a job. What can they do to me?

- WhyteRhyno replies to am| 1 replyTo AM, the company website and other company info I provided earlier was copied directly from the Better Business Bureau website. And on the BBB website they state that First National Arbitration Services is also known as Executive Arbitration Services, which matches the company's website link.

- GoldieReceived a call at work from 855-287-0071, Michael Sullivan. The receptionist took the message because I wasn't able to pick the call up. They said to have me call before papers were served, and to call asap. They should not advise to anyone other than the person they are trying to reach to call to avoid being served. They are using scare tactics and this isn't going to work with me.

- missd81I received a call from a supposed process surver named Michelle Grants claiming she was going to come and serve me papers. It is to my understanding process survers do not call and warn a person before they come. She left the number 855-287-0071 and told me I needed to call them to put a stop action. I had already sent a debt validation letter to First National Arbitration Services, but they are still calling and threatening me with getting papers served at my place of employment.
