10/29/2011 @ approximately 8:30 MT time, I received a call stating they were from GE Money/Care Credit. He stated his first and last name, i didn't write it down, (I usually do).  He said this was a courtesy call and wanted to thank me for making my payments on time and for paying on line.  He asked what my address was and i did confirm.  He asked if there were any other phone numbers or updates needed in my information, i said no.  I began to feel very uneasy and sorry i confirmed my address.  I then hung up and immediately called the number back; 1-855-383-1864, no one answered, it continued to ring and ring and ring.  Then i called GE Credit customer service, 1-866-893-7894, they aren't open for the weekend.  How about that.  next i went on line to you for help. how do you contact me? Thank you

At 2:36, October 30, I received a call from the number 855-383-1864.  I didn't answer it, as it is my policy to answer nothing that is unidentified.  But, out of curiosity, I did a little research and came up with this site.

I get a call from this # all the time. They don't leave a message. and I won't answer the phone. I have tried calling the # back but no answer.

Called about 8:30pm. Said his name was Jim Byer and he was calling on behalf of the South Dakota Peace Officers Assoc. Soliciting for money like everyone else. I know it wasn't local as he kept referring to South Dakota as "out there".  Some call center from god knows where. When I donate I give directly to my local departments during their fundraisers. I don't feel I need to give $25 when maybe only $2 will end up going where they say it's going.

Any organization that claims to be a charity and wants any of MY money had better be listed in the Charity Navigator website:

They do an excellent job of researching the fund-raising groups and uncovering the scams.  

I WILL NOT give to any group that uses the telephone to do fundraisers.  If nobody gave any money to "charities" that use the telephone then they would stop using the phone to raise money.

FYI:  The company that calls "on behalf" of the South Dakota Peace Officers Association, keeps about 94% of what they take in and give the rest to the charity or charities they work for.

This website provides a drop-down menu for the "Call Type" but unfortunately "Scammer" is not on the list.

I get the call from 855-383-1864 all the time. I answered a couple times and no one was on the other end. When I let the answering machine get it no one leaves a message. I tried calling the number back and no answer. What can we do to stop these calls? I have been called by other numbers that do the same thing.

Same experience as Jim & John above. Called, I answered, no one was there.  I called back, no one picked up.

Called and said he was with the Sheriff's department...sounds like a loon or was incredibly intoxicated!

I got a phone call from this company, and he also said he was from the South Dakota Peace Officers organization, looking to raise money for them and surpise, he wasn't from SD, he was calling from the Twin Cities, but he claimed the money got sent to an address in Sioux Falls, my guess a P.O box or something, that gets forwarded to somewhere else. I told him I contribute locally, he seemed to get kind of pissy and hung up.

How can we hunt these callers down?  If I could get their home numberr I would return the favor..These people are scum & need to get a real job..

I received a call from this same number and whenever I answered there was no response.  I hung up the phone, dialed the number and it rang and rang with no one anwering.

I answered a call from this number tonight and no one was there!  I was going to call the number back, but that's how some of these scams work...very strange!  I would love to find out who this person is and give HIM these creepy late night calls!! WEIRDO!

They just called my home number, answering machine picked up and they hung up...love caller ID, if you don't know the number or the name, just don't answer it...if its someone who really needs to talk to you, they should leave a message...pretty simple...

I also got a call from 855-383-1864 on 4-30-12. The person asked for me by name, and when I confirmed it was me, they hung up.

got calls,from this number 855-383-1864 and then 855-383-1865,a nick claimed that he was calling on behalf of the fallen fire fighters assn.I told him that i had nothing to give ,but he kept on pressing I told him that there are people burned out of their homes and are homeless.Being a retired Wildlands Fire fighter,he really creeped me out.
The only way to correct this type of person is to notify the National Regisrty,of do not call and file a complaint.You can be on the list.But they can't do a thing until you file a complaint agaisnt them for this.
These are people trying to collect money on the lives of others.Hope some how that favor will be returned to them tenfold.The more complaints filed agaisnt them the better.
