Tech support scammer. Posting fake "Norton Security" ads on typosquatted domains (e.g. "ggmail.com"). Claims company website is http://www.safewaypchelp.com/ and additional support call-in number is 1-800-391-9038.

Attempted to prove my bait PC was infected by:
* Showing me Windows system files (DLLs) in Notepad, and that they were "scrambled"
* Showing me the Windows Prefetch folder, and claiming those were all viruses (including the LogMeIn Rescue one he was using to connect, damn!)
* Telling me I'd keep getting the popups when I browse, and showing me by opening a YouTube video then covertly trying to WINDOWS+R, paste a URL, and hit enter.

At least I wasted 40 minutes of his time.

If you have time (and/or when or if you do), give Norton/Symantec a call and tell them about your experience. Because I know it's damn hard to find a contact number for them BUT ..... there is contact numbers on their websites, just takes a while to find the one you want.

We have a corporate support contract with them for Backup Exec, so I have contacts; I'll call them tomorrow morning. Microsoft has also already been advised of their claims to be MCP's (doubt anything will happen there, though). LogMeIn has also already been informed w/ the offending session ID. :)

Good. I've seen a couple of really good youtube video's where one guy has got the Windows Technical Department's IP address which was located in Calcutta, India. He also recorded the screen and other details such as ISP information, I wonder if the Indian is still in business?
