The number popped up on my friend's computer together with a message saying she had some kind of virus on her computer. When I called this number, nobody answered. The moment I hanged up, somebody from a different number called me. And guess what, it is a guy from India. He told me to ask my friend to call him so that he can remotely access her computer and help her fix the problem. The whole thing sounds very suspicious to me.

Seems to be a crank to get access to your computer. Do not allow.  I received message when I tried to access my Firefox.  I will de-install Firefox.  I tried to call the number and it made transferring noises, then a taped message indicated that I was being transferred to "Tech Support"  -- This number does not come up with information when you use reverse phone lookup, but I searched online and this came up.  It does not appear to be related to Firefox.  Do NOT GIVE anyone that you do not know well access to your laptop for any reason.  Someone I know did and had identity theft issues because of hacked banking information.  Protect yourself.  Oh, and the person who eventually answered "Andrew" did not have any foreign accent so beware...

I too got this message on my homescreen. Three people use my computer with their iwn password to their own homescreen and I was the only one that received this message and not the other two users. I have to agree with you all that this
is a ploy to gain access to your computer. I am ignoring this warning.

I just bought a new computer and this popped up as I was doing installation.   I called and this very friendly young man's voice on a recording prompted me to push 1 or 2 for personal computer or business computer and I started getting suspicious.  What I am worried about now is that my cell phone which I called him on has the internet, can he access my computer information from my cell phone?

Unless your computer and phone access the Internet via the same method, ie a wireless router in your home or you use your phone as the method to access the internet via your computer, no.  It is very odd that this would pop up during installation. What were you installing? Most computers come with the operating system already installed. Were you installing a new web browser? Do you have anti-virus and anti-malware software installed?

I had this popup as well, I wasn't trying to install anything. Just wouldn't let me navigate. I hit the "ok" about 6 times and it went away...then shutdown and restart. No problems since, this was on the 8th of March.
