- Caller: Rolling plan cash
- Call type: Event reminder
- larry whiteBeware: I received a call from this # to my business wanting to verify that this is larry white. Telling me the last 4 diggits of my ssn. Asking me for the other 5 to confirm that this is the larry white they where looking for. I asked this person to tell me what this call was about, but they said they could not divulge private info for security reason without my ssn. I told them to write me a cert. Letter explaining who, why etc., who they are. They hung up after excusing themselves to a supervisor. Same day received a call to my to home phone! Fraud!!
- Caller: cash loan co. or similiar
- ScammersSuckI received an unexpected call from them, Rolling Plains Cash (www.rollingplainscash.com) on my cell. They asked for me by name. They immediately asked for the last 4 of my SSN so they could verify my identity. I refused. I bombarded 'Maurina' with questions about the reason for the call trying to understand WHY they were calling me since I have NEVER taken out a payday loan (that's what they do). She would not divulge any information, sticking to the script that this was regarding a personal matter and my identity had to be verified w/ last 4 of SSN or date of birth. I asked them where they were located -- she admitted South Dakota. I asked for an address but she wouldn't divulge. (I'm betting she was in Chicago -- sounded average AfroAmerican) Not letting her off the hook, she tried to escape saying that perhaps they had a 'bad number' for their customer that they were trying to reach. ?but they had my name? if it was real debt she would have pressed harder for repayment. I told them not to call again and hung up. TOTAL SCAM! For what it's worth I filed a Federal Trade Commission fraud report. You can too at: http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0076-phone-scams
Interestingly, their website admits that they operate out of Batesland, SD -- it's Indian land. Hmmmm.
And for further amusement I got a cold call 3 days later from a very similar operation out of Hays, MT -- Riverbend Cash. Lucky me!- Caller: Rolling Plains Cash
- just me| 1 replyThey are real. Rolling Plains Cash does short term loans. Yes, they are an Indian tribe in South Dakota.
- Caller: RollingPlainsCash
- Call type: Debt collector
- Slim replies to just meThe presence of a website does not guarantee the company or its debt claim is legitimate.
A phone call, email or text message from a supposed debt collector is not legally sufficient evidence of debt.
The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) includes statements such as this:
* Every collector must send you a written “validation notice” telling you how much money you owe within five days after they first contact you. This notice also must include the name of the creditor to whom you owe the money, and how to proceed if you don’t think you owe the money. ["Written" means snailmailed - US Mail ... not emailed or texted]

Therefore, if that caller wants you to pay immediately, before you get the written validation notice via snailmail, or if the caller wants payment via Green Dot, MoneyGram, Western Union, prepaid gift card or other untraceable means, then the call is definitely not legitimate.
IF you wish to communicate with the supposed collector / creditor, visit the following page, for example "Action Letters" to snailmail:

If you KNOW you owe no money, or believe the call was from a fake debt collector, please take the time to read this:
