I received a call from these people saying that I had a payday loan. They said my bill was 1237.54 needless to say I told him I never borrowed that amount.He then lowered it to 400 or so dollars.overall they were stern but they got me out of debt.

Privately hired female called from blocked number.  Said this was courtesy call to clear up case #HEW1091-US and gave this number to resolve.  Baxter County.  Don't think I've ever been in Baxter County.

Just another call from a phony debt collector.  Do not give anybody any money.  The main thing to remember is, if you have done something where you were going to get served, NO ONE EVER GIVES YOU A HEADS UP let alone an "opportunity" to stop the court action.  That's where the scam comes into play.  They attempt to intimidate you to pay money that you do not owe only to start the process all over again.  

R Boubel - I wouldn't be surprised if they call you again or start to dip into your checking account.

These people called me stating I opened a payday loan and the money was deposited in my bank account.  Note..that particualar bank account was closed last year.  Never the less the call was very threatening with the "heads up" as stated before.  I sent them over paperwork stating  I did not apply for nor obtain this loan.  Now that I have sent them prove there are no return phone calls.  Everyone please be learly of this type of thing.  When I asked for an email address they gave me a GMAIL!!!!!!!!!!!!! THere is no law firm out there that is legit with a GMAIL account!!

This person claimed i owed a payday loan from 2009 and if i did not give them 1800.00 right then i was going to jail. She knew the last 4 of my social and an address i lived at in 2005. I tried to get them to send me info and she took my email address and claimed she was emailing it to me "right now". Nothing ever showed up. I thought all of this was real and i gave them one of my pre-paid cards info.  After doing some research, i found out this is a civil matter not a crime. And when she threatened me with a jail and the police would show up at my house before the end of the day, that is a crime.  If i owe money, i am more then happy to pay it but i want proof.  Whoever this company is at this point you will not be getting any money from me. Side note: there is no money on that pre-paid card i gave them.

Do not ask for or accept email or fax info. Email and Fax is not acceptable validation of any debt nor is it legally acceptable in court. Demand total validation, not info,  of the debt as last held by the Original owner of the alleged debt, to include Orignal amount,  last balance as held by the original owner, record of any payments made, last and final payment or activity on the account, and valid proof of any signed contract that may exist. All of this to be provided via USPS.  If your request is refused for any reason, you do not owe anyone anything.

Received information that this number was searching thru a third party to get information about my spouse.  They stated to the third party that they were Manz and James Legal Services out of New York.  Tel # 855-393-4947.   Case # WAR 1275-US.  After researching this further found that there is no such company or law offices.  They seem to be using the same names and numbers because this was similar to a call that was received last summer from North Carolina.

A man from blocked number called said he was private investigator and he was going to serve papers at my employment but I could stop this if I called 855 393 4947 with case MIW 2819.  This  is  not  legitimate.  I have never taken out a payday loan and no plans of doing so.

I could stop this by calling 855-393-4947. I did have a payday loan but have taken care of it so I have no idea who this is and what it's about.

This was a ligitimate phone call. Of course nothing had ever been sent to me in the mail hence it getting to this point. I called back and was able to set up a payment plan. They simply make courtesy calls to straighten everything out before it goes to court if willing to work with them.

If you've not received written, verifiable proof of their claim by mail (NOT e-mail or fax.) pay them NOTHING! If they will not provide said proof, they are FRAUDS! Always! No Exceptions! Ever!
Federal law regarding debt collection is not hard to understand. Simply Google "FDCPA" or use the links provided here. If a collector is in violation of the FDCPA it is a sure bet his claims are invalid or just plain BOGUS! If everyone understood their rights, bogus and a large percentage of 3rd party collection outfits would be gone in very short order.

They keep calling me, keep telling me i have to pay or end up in jail, which is not legitimate. it is almost 9pm right now and I called them back, it rings about 6 times then a recording that says "this person is on the phone right now"... wtf?? wish they would leave me alone!!

Called me from a blocked number , using a female to say I committed fraudulent activity and the county I live in filed charges BUT I can call 1-855-393-4947 to clear things up . threatened to serve me at home and my place of employment.. Its a scam using scare tactics to gain your credit number, or checking account info. A phishing scam at its worse .

This shows up as "Unknown Number" for me when they call.

They called and left a message for someone else stating that that person was being served for something (the woman wasn't very understandable). However, as they referenced Nassau County, I thought it was official. They told me to call the 4947 number.

Fortunately, my number had been having issues - when I got the number, the original owner was never purged, and it took me years to get that corrected. So when I returned the call, I said they must have the wrong number, the person in question isn't here. The guy on the phone bruskly asked for the "case number" then told me they'd update their records. I haven't heard from them since, but now I know to ignore this in case they try some new shenanigans.

Called me from a local number 972-546-7345 with some guy names Ready Hammons a private investigator talking about my information was faxed to his office for fraudulant activity from Bexar County. He stated the company would be willing to explain or if I want to contest what they are saying and could come to agree so they would not have a summon served to me at my place of employment or home to  call 1-855-393-4947 to clear things up . No one is gong to call to serve you paper they are just going to do it. People BEWARE!! never even mention the name of the so call company.

Just got the call tonight going to have some fun with them.
