got the same call 2 days ago....lady sounded like she was reading a script...also received the same call at my office in which a different lady sounded like she was reading a script as well..let me note that both of them were fumbeling there words which was a sure sign that they obviously didn't have there script down pact and were just simply reading an already pre printed script...the so called company "rosenthal and drake" is not accredited by the better business bureau....looks to me like a new bottom feeder got our info somehow and is trying to collect on god knows what....said that they were sending paperwork to my county clerks office...yea ok....i say just ignore, don't fall into the illegal scare tactics, and eventually they will pass over and move on to the next.....

I am getting the same calls...they are saying that they will be getting with my employer if I dont do as they say. I said go for it. Can anything be done with companies trying these care of illegal scare tactics?

I have filed a complaint with the upstate NY bbb. maybe if enough of us do it they will investigate

when you receive those calls, just tell them to do what they must, to please go ahead and send the papers and move on....i promise you that this will only frustrate them and will leave them with no other point than to hang up on you.  TRUST ME....the more you feed into them and let them know that they've gotten to you, the more they will press...as i said earlier, eventually they will give up and move on to the next.

Received a phons call from them from Eli Schmidt with Rosenthal and drake...said my name and social security number were linked to a fraud case...they gave me a case number to return their call. When I returnd the call it went to a very unproffesional sounding voicemail that did not announce a business name who are these people and is this some kind of scam?

My call actually came from a different number but the letter rhey emailed me has 1-855-413-5006 on it and a different compnay name.  These people are scandalous and something needs tobe done about it.

Not sure what this was about but they called and said "I am looking for Christine Turner and don't know if this is the right number"....told her there was no one here by that name.

I got several messages not on my phone but all my familys phones

Interesting comments from others, I received a call today from the same people, looks like they have changed their tactics a little, the person/automated machine called me and left messages on my home and work phone but did not leave a name, but a return call number of 855-413-5006 and a file number to refer to when calling.  The automated voice message stated that he was calling from the office of Rosenthal and Drake and they were calling regarding a return item from my bank that requires my immediate attention, it went on to stated that  "it would be in my best interested to have myself or my legal counsel to contact their office to discuss a volunteerary resolution of the matter it further went on to stress that "please be advised this is not a solication and they will be expectating a response" Obviously a scam, because my banking institution would have notified me if there was a problem.

I have received several calls from this number and a person who names himself "Antonio Vargas". He has made the same threats of my being sued for check fraud, and that Rosenthal and Drake are an "asset investigation service" and gave me the impression that he could and had pulled my credit to find out what I might own so they could take it from me in court. The "debt" they are trying to collect was $500, and I settled it two years ago with the original creditor, but he doesn't want to hear that and continues to make threatening phone calls.

Same number calls me still. I took the information and told him my lawyer would call him and this was at the end of June. They said I took out a loan in Texas while I was deployed and said it was my information so it is my duty to pay. My lawyer is still waiting for documentation about me getting sued for grand larceny and check fraud and asked that they provide a bank account to where the money was transferred to since I have proof that I was not in the US at the time. My lawyer said the guy from the company got upset and frustrated when he talked to him asking for this stuff, saying it shouldn't be handled this way because all I needed to do was pay this loan/debt off. I checked out my credit report with TransUnion, Equifax, and Experian and there are no debt or collections. So I don't know what he is talking about. Its getting close to the end of July and still nothing for my lawyer so he told me not to worry about it.

I just received a call from 855-413-5006 today. Said alot of the same things that have been reported here. However the debt that he mentioned is a debt that I owe. I checked all 3 credit reports and this was not on any of them. The man I spoke with was named Alex. One thing that struck me as odd was that he said he had to put me on hold and discuss the matter with the company. He came back on the phone and gave me 2 options. I could either pay almost $ 600 before the end of the month for a $240 debt  and then they would give me a status of claims number so that way if I was to get pulled over or something I was to give the officer that number and I wouldnt be arrested. Then he told me that I could make 3 monthly payments that would total almost $900. I called my husband in tears and he said something doesnt seem right. He got home and I told him everything and said to let him call. He did and left a voicemail. I began to think something was off  as well. He had also said that they werent a collection agency but when I looked them up the only information I could get on this company and phone number was on the BBB website and it said they were indeed a collection agency. And then I found this website which I am so glad I found. When I first called my husband freaking out he said to go ahead and pay it off so it wasn't something we would have to worry about. I called the number back 2 times and there was no answer so I called the hubby back and that was when he said something wasnt right. Thank heavens they didnt answer because I would have fell for this and gave them the money

Got a call on Monday from this number.  She left a message that charges were pending for "fraudulent activity" from a defaulted payday loan from 2005!  I just told her to go for it and don't call again.  I haven't heard back from her.

I have got the same call. But they refuse to give any information and said I'm going o be arrested when the process server shows up.. but if they are acollection agency don't they have to follow the fdcpa and give the mini Miranda

You will. Might be 3 months from now cause Im in the same situation. Got a call 3 months ago  they they started again this month.

Then I'll just keep telling them the same thing, I guess.  I hate these kind of people.  I don't see how they're allowed to do these kind of collections.

I just got a call from Amanda and I hung up then I rec a call from Jason and he also sounded like he was reading a script stating he was from an attorney's office but in fact it is a collections agency, I made a complaint against them with the BBB, He left in his message that there were about 6 charges that would be make them felony a charges, I know they can't do this by law per the Federal Trade Commission, they can not mention any kind of possible court action in the message or conversation, no threats of any kind, this again is another bottom feeder who is looking to use scare tactics to get what ever money they can. do not fall for their tricks..

Shawna they can't say things like that if you look up on the Federal Trade commissions web site under consumer and then credit collections there is a lot of things these people are saying that are against the law. they feel that most will not take them to court or make complaints against them so they keep doing what they do until someone sues them in court for violating the fair credit act and that is what they are doing. and will do until someone sues them.

I got this phone call earlier today when I was at school and they began harassing me on the phone I told them I was going to block them and they proceeded to call back and leave a voicemail informing me that there would be someone serving me with court summons at my address they have on file within 24 to 48 hours and if I refused to sign or they were unable to reach me it would be forwarded to my local county clerks office who would then issue a warrant for my arrest!!!  I had my problems in the past but for a few years now have been on track and I am a single mother of two small children so I was very upset and bothered by this voicemail as I am sure you all were as well...after repeatedly trying to call them back the number says that it is not set  up to receive incoming calls at this time so I became more suspicious...I then proceeded to google the law firm they used and the phone number on my caller ID and was taken to several other pages such as this making me realize it was a SCAM!!!  I don't find this in any way shape or form to be found funny or justified...I began to worry about my kids and what would happen to them, if something was really seriously going on even though I knew I had not been in any trouble it really upset me for a while and I am beyond irritated by this and plan to contact the news to report this number, posted it on facebook to warn my friends, and the BBB will be hearing from me as well...this sort of thing is not okay and very much so pissed me OFF!!!
