    Guy says he's from DirecTV accounting department with a fantastic deal.  I ultimately hung up on the guy but it sounded legit.

    Updated: Wednesday, October 29 2014, 12:29 PM EDT ALBANY—It sounds like a great deal, slash your TV bill in half while adding new premium channels.  Most of us would jump at the offer and that's exactly what the callers behind this scam are hoping for.  Over the past few weeks CBS6 has received a number of emails and Facebook messages from people who've become a victim of this scam. Kimberly MacDuff has been a DIRECTV customer for a few years so when she got a phone call the other day from someone claiming to be a sales representative from the company, she didn't think too much of it, "they said that they were having a promotion for the premiere package that DIRECTV offers, they said you pay the one-time fee of $420 and then you won't get a bill for 5-6 months and then after that, the premier package would only be $69.99 per month," she tells CBS6.  The one-time fee of $420, she was told would have to be paid using a Green-Dot prepaid money card.  MacDuff went to the store, loaded a card with that amount of cash, "you call back the number and it comes up as DIRECTV on the caller ID and the automated phone line, they really have this planned out," she says. MacDuff provided the rep with the code on the back of the Green-Dot card and thought she was good to go.  It wasn't until a few days later that she realized she wasn't receiving the upgraded channels she was promised, "I called back later that night and they had disconnected the phone line," she says of the scammers who used caller-id spoofing to make it seem like their pitch was legitimate.   In a statement to CBS6, a spokeswoman for DIRECTV says, "Customers should be aware that we do not call our customers requesting upfront payments under any circumstances or make offers requiring payment with the Green-Dot Money Pak Card."  If customers receive one of these calls, the company suggests obtaining as much information as possible about the caller, declining the offer and then calling the fraud department at DIRECTV at 800.531.5000 to report it.   "I've never been scammed before, I'm only 21 so I guess I'm not that wise yet but ya know, definitely lesson learned," MacDuff says and it was an expensive one at that.

    Keeps calling.  Asked them to stop.  They won't. Finally figured out how to use the reject call feature on my smart phone.  Voila.  It's Direct TV.  I ended my relationship with them over a year ago.  Persistent like a stalker x boyfriend.

    caller left message that her name was Jennifer and she was calling for feedback about directv.  i dropped them 4 months ago.  if i wanted their service i would call them.  wish they would leave me alone.  i thought i was protected by the do-not-call list.  they really are stalkers.  creepy.

    I also wish they'd stop calling me... However, the Do-Not-Call list does NOT apply to companies that you (or anyone) have done business with in the past.

    There was a missed call at the same time from this number.  I didnt have my phone on me at the time.  But, I have never received a text from this number before.

    They say they are DirecTV. Don't know if that's true or if it's a scam, but if you answer this number you will have to rudely Hang up to get rid of them. They won't let go otherwise, no matter how many time you say "no thanks"

    I have had at least a call a week from this number. I did have DirecTV in the past, so maybe it is them. I never answer the calls.
