called for my son saying they needed his plac of employment and  phone number. the caller was a David Matthews saying my son was officially notified on a claim filed against him

A person by the name of David Matthews called from a local Ga number me to verify my address. I said I didn't know who he was and what he was talking about. He said was calling to verify that I lived at my address because there is a claim against me. I again said I do not know who you are and what you are referring to. David asked me if I was kidding. I hung up. He then called back and left a voice mail saying that I have a formal complaint against me and I have one opportunity to call 8554116195 to handle my claim and consider my self served.

Have gotten several calls from a local area code number. The 2 messages left on the phone was directed to a name I do not know. In the first message he stated his name was Joseph O'Conner that was calling informing there was a claim filed against this person and she needed to call the "firm" to discuss the claim against her leaving this number but never giving the name of the firm. When I answered the call today when I informed him he had a wrong number and I asked who was calling he became extremely aggressive and rude. stating why is it imprtant who is calling if this really was a wrong number and requested to speak the the person again. I again asked who was calling and he became more agressive so I hung up. The phone immediately rang back and he again asked for the unknown person. I asked who was calling and he was hostile stating why should it matter if it were the wrong number implying that I was lying. I informed him it was because he called my number at my home and was abusive and extremely rude. He refused to identify himself so I informed him he was being reported. I immediately called my service provider giving the the number off of caller ID and the number left in the message. She stated this number was a cell phone in Lubbock, Texas. She stated it was PROBABLY A SCAM !!!!!!!! DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE ANY INFORMATION. !!!!!!!!!!! IF THEY KEEP CALLING FILE A FORMAL COMPLAINT WITH LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT !!!!!!

A client of mine just received the same call.  Even though we had spoken about these scammers, he was upset.  I called the Clerk of the County Court and there is no lawsuit filed, proving to me that these guys are in fact scammers.  Statutes concerning service of process and notice vary, but a phone call from some random [***] does not typically satisfy statutory requirements.  Don't let these jerks push you around.  If in doubt, call the clerk of the court in your county or district to see if you have a pending lawsuit against you.  I would bet the vast majority of consumers do not.

I had them call me also on 2 different phones... using numbers 574-203-0361 and 269-203-3010 with the same [***]

They were blowing my phone up all day..

I too received a call here in Ohio but from a man named Paul Grey.   Same scenario, and when I put my boyfriend on the phone he kept asking him why he is hiding me.  He not only called me 18 times in a row, but called my dad, my brother, and my sister-in-law.  I finally went to the police station and filed a harrasment complaint.  The officer called the 855 number and its called Consolidated out of California and they told them to have me call their legal department.  Not happening.  I now have an attorney calling them for harrasment.

18 calls to my phone, and not to mention my family all day!!!  Now, they can deal with the local authorities

Local authorities cannot do anything about these scammers.  The scams are run out of a garage with post office box mailing addresses, often times from the Buffalo New York area.   Have you ever wondered why they won't accept payment in the form of a check by mail?  They will have to deposit the check, giving a lead on the bank it's deposited too, and it also brings them in the view of Federal investigators for mail and wire fraud.  What you have is an unknown clown calling consumers and demanding money.  They use fear and intimidation by threatening lawsuits and/or jail time for fraud if they are not paid immediately.  These are hollow threats and are over the top FDCPA violations.  Legitimate collectors can and do violate the FDCPA, but these guys have no fear from consumer attorneys like me because they are criminals, not legitimate.  Next week, they will be a new company name in a new garage with new throw away cell phone calling new threatening new consumers.

My attorney called this supposed number and asked for the legal department.    Transferred, on hold, then transferred back to original person to where he got a vm.  The police spoke to them last night to.  Since they called them, the calls have stopped today, thankfully.  They werent asking for money, just to drop off a package.  Even went as far as saying he will bring the cops.  I said 'BRING IT ON".    Just hope it is over.  I would love to get them for harrassment though in a bad bad way.
