A man said he was with the IRS and a judgement is being filed against me for failure to pay taxes for 10 years. I am on SSDI and have not had income for the last 10 years. I believe I filed my taxes correctly. A few of those years an accountant filed my taxes. Please help. They asked for my current address .I assume it was a prank

This is what is called the IRS Scam.  It is not a prank, it is a scam run by criminals who will take as much money as they can scare you out of.  I certain you filed correctly and on time.  If the IRS wants to contact you, you are notified by mail, not a phone call.
Please do not talk to these crooks!   Ignore and block the calls.  They will start to threaten you with arrest and debtors prison.  They work on your fears, and love to steal from retired and elderly people.

If you elderly, and want to double check on my warning, talk to your family, to friends or members of your church who you trust.  Call your accountant, tell them about the call.

You can visit the IRS web site for info on this:

Susan, Please do not talk to these crooks!!   There is no supervisor at the number they called you from, or any phone number they give you.  If you need to contact the IRS, use a phone number you trust, NOT what some caller demanding money give you on the phone.
1-800-829-1040 - Is the Main Line to the IRS.
Do not answer any more calls from that number, or from other unknown numbers.  NEVER call back unknown numbers!   Please check back here, other Regular 800notes users will probably post info for you.

Since you have talked to the scammers, they will probably keep calling, that is why you need to ignore and block these calls.

    IRS Scam:

The IRS does not need to sue anyone.  They send you first class letters delivered by the Post Office.  Several of them.  Ignore those, and they then send certified letters that you need to sign for.  Again delivered by the Post Office.  Ignore those and they simply freeze your bank accounts and anything else you own.  If they can do that, then why would they bother with a court case that might take them years before they get in front of a judge?  They also do not bother arresting people for a few thousand dollars for the same reasons I have already given.  The IRS does not accept payment in Itunes Cards, Amazon gift cards, or any other type of payment other than cash, check, credit or debit card (from normal everyday citizens).

I just got a call too.  They said that an arrest warrant was being issued and the Sheriff would contact me in two hours.  When I asked to speak with a supervisor he said that there was none and when I said this was fraud, he hung up on me.
I will block this number and suggest that if anyone else gets a call like this to hang up and not take the call.

Recognized bottom dweller number, talked in low voice so they crank up headset volume, then blasted canned air horn into mouthpiece of phone. Got several callbacks in a row with excessive foul language and threats lol. Reached my limit with these calls.

They called my husband's phone 12 times within 2 hours. When he got home it rung so I answered it, as  he doesn't answer calls he doesn't know. It was something about a Dell security account and that if we didn't push 1 they would debit $699 from our account within 30 minutes. I blocked the number on his phone for him. So sick of these spam calls

I received  14  calls from this number between 2:53 PM  and  3:44 PM this afternoon.   I did not answer any of the calls and there was no voice mail message left by the caller.     I have had voice mail messages from this Dell computer scam in the past  ( pretty sure same number )  but never harassed like today.

The FCC needs to start fining and arresting this cottage industry of tormentors.

Received 9 calls from this number between 1:51PM and 3:01PM...have not left a single voicemail anytime they called and my phone is identifying them as a spam risk and I don't answer any numbers that show up as a spam risk.  I have no intention of answering and have manually blocked this number now as well.
