- BC11 replies to Justin Misiorek| 4 repliesI'm not sure if your reply is honest dissent or an intentional attempt to stop people from contacting Regions about fraudulent charges, but either way you're 100% incorrect. This number IS Regions fraud prevention. I spoke with a Regions employee who asked me about two charges made to my account. They didn't ask personal questions or for my debit card number. They knew the dollar amount of the fraudulent charges, which were indeed in my transaction register in online banking.
There's a LOT of misinformation in here. - davidfals email call in the name REGIONNS bank
- Caller: 1-855-662-8647
- Betty DI rec'd an email early in the morning asking that I call this number. After talking to them, I called 1-800-Reg-ions to confirm that it was actually the bank's fraud department. It is legitimate. They are on their toes! My debit card was skimmed in Charleston, SC a month ago. Kudos to Regions!

- CrucialMissed The call from this number then listened to my voicemail. It stated to call back due to unusual suspicious acct activity. Once I called back she did ask for my full credit card number which was given. She told me someone in Orlando tried to make a 1,198 purchase at Tj Max. After asking If It was me I Informed her No. She told me a block will be put on the card And to inform regions of any charges not recognized. After that I googled the number and came to this page. YES ITS LEGIT ! Once I called regions cutomer service number the rep informed me that's the special investigation fraud team that track accounts and that purchase was made but they did issue me a new card. Thank you Tiffany

- NicciI got a call this morning saying I was being audited by the IRS but his number asking you to call back when you do they try to tell you that you're being audited and then give you a resolution to your audit it is a scam I laughed and told him I wasn't being audited I never received anything in the mail and they hung up on me
- Caller: IRS
- GoldenTicketI got a voicemail from the 205 number asking me to call back in regards to a fraudulent charge. I called the 855 number and did get the same abrupt greeting asking for my card number. I only gave the last four digits and told the woman I was uncomfortable giving her any additional information. She was fine with that and told me of a fraudulent charge in TX that their fraud protection computer picked up. I asked her to cancel the card and send another. I then called the 800 number on the back of my Regions card and a representative confirmed that an employee in their fraud department had cancelled my card and reissued another one. It is a legitimate phone number for Regions but again, if you feel uncomfortable, call the num er on the card.

- Concerned CustomerI received the email at 11pm last night and looked online in the message center - no messages. Then I contacted Regions and they are not open until 6am. I am not calling the number in the email because of the following notes on the Regions website, specifically, "If you receive an email requesting that you dial a certain number, do not call the number."
Fraud Protection
Customers of large banks (like Regions) are currently experiencing an increase in fraud schemes. Scams to get a customer's personal information can occur through many different means such as through the use of emails and telephone calls. One common method seen by customers is called "phishing". While phishing has typically been associated with unsolicited emails, there are a variety of scams that use a combination of phone messages and toll-free numbers.
A few tips to help you protect your personal information from telephone or email phishing scams are listed below:
Computer Security Tips:
Protect your computer through the use of anti-virus software and firewall protection.
When banking online, always make sure your browser address bar reads https://www.regions.com/ before you begin the login process.
Never respond to an email requesting that you provide personal information to verify an account or to re-activate that account or service.
Remember, Regions does not contact customers via email requesting a customer to provide personal secure information, such as a PIN or passwords.
Telephone Security Tips:
If you receive an email requesting that you dial a certain number, do not call the number. Contact Regions customer service immediately at 1-800-REGIONS (1-800-734-4667).
Do not provide your personal secure information to an unsolicited caller.
Never respond to a phone call or voice mail service asking you to verify account information or reactivate a bank service.- Caller: Regions Banks
- Chy BSomething fishy is definitely going on. I just moved to Atlanta GA Tuesday, moved into my apartment Saturday, and received an email from Regions Sunday saying my card had been compromised. I called and indeed it had been compromised from what I saw in my account. Don't remember what info they asked me for but i complied and thanked them for my service....the issue here in lies that today on MONDAY my mother received the same email from the same guy regions email telling her to call the same number.
I just moved from Virginia to Georgia and my mom lives in Tennessee. How did both of our cards become compromised within a day of each other when we do NOT use our cards at the same places? Like 0 similar charges at 0 similar stores and NO charges even in the same state.
Either this is legit and our actual bank accounts have been compromised (her account is linked to mine so I can give her money weekly) or someone got our info from somewhere else and is using it to scam us.
But if they are scamming us and are already making charges why have us call you??? I'm currently on hold with regions now to try and get to the bottom of everything. The odds that both of our cards were compromised basically on the same day in spite of our cards having 0 relation to one another is VERY minimal unless they accessed my actual bank account which has hers linked to it.
I'll keep you posted once I find out what's going on.- Caller: Regions Bank Debit Card Monitoring Department
- John replies to BC11| 1 replyThis does look legit, but the first thing they asked for was my entire debit card number. Seemed odd.
- B-Edwards replies to JohnIf you are unsure, make a call back to a number you know is good, such as on the back of your card. Phone scammers do fake numbers from time to time, and it makes sense to be careful.
- DavidThis is real, but wow! Those employees at that number are a**holes!
- Cathy replies to TammyIf this is legitimate, the need to train their people better. The first thing the person did when I called was ask for my debit card number. NOPE. Also, Regions customer service could not confirm or deny the validity of the number. WTF???
- LeeThis number is Regions Debit Card Fraud Dept. They called me from a 205 number, and left a message to call back on a toll free number. Someone was trying to authorize use of my card on wal-mart.com for $700 dollars. This number is legit.
- Caller: Regions Fraud Dept.
- Brett| 1 replyIt's Regions actual fraud number as listed on their website. The email looked weird and the number seemed off. The number that was in the email is the same one on Region's official website to contact about debit card fraud. Still odd that they asked for my full debit card number on the phone however. Regardless, I see the fraudulent charge on my account and have to wait until it's no longer pending to dispute it but my card has been deactivated in the meantime.
- FrankThis is not Regions. This is a scam.
- AnonAlmost certain this is a scam number from "1-855-662-8647". The caller ID also lists a different number to verify it's legitimacy. That's conflicting to start with. My regions card was compromised a couple months ago but was canceled and reissued a new one. This number cannot be traced back to the regions site, therefore, smells like a scam. Also, the guy on the phone smelled like a scam. Also, just because people on 800notes lists it as legitimate doesn't make it so. It's easily scumbag scammers posting that. It is likely the scammers have a cache of names and CC#'s and now making calls to get the new CC number. These vermin deserve to be through a meat grinder. Doesn't matter as the bank eats the cost.
- Caller: Fake ass regions.
- Anon replies to BrettThat's funny. Post the link to the regions site in which you deem to be listed as legit.
- Anon^^^ From my previous post above. It *IS* a real legitimate number from Regions Fraud Department. I actually had someone stole my card number and it was flagged with many transactions that were blocked except one got through which is being disputed. So I was overly cautious but for good reason since when you call this department they ask you first what your card number is. So that seems very odd to me but I guess that's how they handle it. It is a 205 # because it from Regions Headquarters from Birmingham, Alabama. It just seems odd they would not list these numbers on their site.
- LSWI received this email at 5:30 this morning. Afraid that it was a scam, I did not call the number. I did take the email to the bank as soon as it opened. (I had pulled up my account online and saw 2 charges around $55 each that i had not made.) The bank confirmed the email was legit. My debit card was frozen due to unusual activity. They were able to tell me what city/state and store the attempted purchases were made. Two charges are pending on my account. Two did not process due to unusual activity. PLEASE be aware and keep a check on your account!
- GortyNo, it is not legit. For all those that are saying it is legit, I just got off with customer service and the first thing they asked me to do was was forwarded to the fishing department phishing@regions.com. The email itself has a toll-free number that is not a legit number! The toll-free number on the back of my card confirmed that there is no issue at this time as the email implied.
