Got call when given case number I call court the number is no good. Called back was told this number was internal. When I question the situation I was hung up on

Received message and a case number.  Wanted someone to call. Said I was some kind of defendant
Did not call. Came here first

I also, have been getting the exact same calls with the same recording, saying same thing, of trying to locate defendent. That's all it says and cuts off. No name, no company, no identification. I beleive they are scammers tring to collect on old pay day loans. BEWARE!

VERY INteresting that the 855 number comes up as this!!!! UUUMMM!! Scammer or what!!!

Recd phone call from Mackenzie Strong of Mackenzie, Reed and Associates. Looking for a friend.  855-699-9749. They are  "Going to remove number from list".   Told her they were calling my work number!!  Next time i will try to scam them and see if I can get an address.  I will turn them over to local feds.  

I have asked several times to be removed from list.  Even went as far as giving them the local sherriffs number.  It stopped for a while.  New people and new company calling.  This has been going on for 2-3 years but not the same people calling, Just a scam, but what idiots.  They never stop trying.  This is sad because some people fall victim to these scumbags.

This is a debt collector. And you are correct that they blatantly violate the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act on a regular basis. They use the term "defendant" to make it sound like a criminal case. They also talk about warrants and arrests. While the term "defendant" is also used in the civil system, it is absolutely illegal to threaten criminal action on a civil case. This is just another example of having a law that does you no good. You could sue them or try to prosecute them but then they just close shop and reopen under a different name. It is not much satisfaction, but I would recommend filing a complaint with your state's Attorney General's office. If they get enough complaints, maybe they will go after them.

Yes it is illegal. It is a violation of federal law. If they show up again, call the police. And let everyone who they try to contact to locate the "defendant" that there is no criminal case and no arrest warrant and they should not respond to these nuts.

Try changing the spelling to McKenzie & Ried. The person there will infer they are a lawyer but if you ask them what state they are licensed in and their bar card number they will not give it to you. Add this to the list of DTPA violations as well as being a criminal violation in most states for practicing law without a license.

they just called my childs dad yesterday about my child whom is 12 having an old account with american express but with my address. my child lives with his dad. He is now calling them but I told him do not tell them anything about our son. they know his social and everything. O yeah and they called him a defendant and said they will come tot heir residence if need be. Are you sure its a scam? I  cant find anything about them any where. And they are giving my ex husband an address to the court where the papers are filed. They are sending him the information he has requested from the court supposedly but they were unable to give him the exact birthdate and offered him a settled amount.

called my grandmother, mother, and boyfriend. They are relentless. Do not answer there calls ---k them they are scammers. They never tell you you are a defendent first of all or if you have a warrant. Also if there is a real case against you you have to be personally served papers!!!! Never do and when you ask they cant do it. HMMMM SCAM report to police and FTC.

I have received this message 3 times a day for 2 days looking for someone that I know and they called that person the "defendant".  It was on my cell phone also.  How do I go about getting them on a no call list.  My calls are always doing the day while I'm at work.  I tried to call back and they just hung up on me.

This number is scammers it needs to stop calling.

Your best bet might be a call blocker.

No!   Do not call them back it is a scam!  If you own someone a debt then tell them to send you a copy of the debt by US Mail.  Otherwise,tell them to go to hell!

I got a msg today from this # who is looking for my ex husband. Haven't thght bout him in yrs.

They left messages to my mother. Scaring her saying I will be arrested. I keep telling her these are scammers. If thy were a real company they know it is against your right to call others.
