- BB 1950Called today around 11:30 a.m. on my landline when I didn't answer the call a message was left on my answering machine. Message not real clear (either background noise or just poorly recorded) but able to hear something about urgent I return their call as my subscription for consumer protection plan needed renewed or I could cancel and get refund. I felt it likely a scam but did call the number shown on my caller ID just to make certain before reporting the number for fraud/scare tactics. After a brief pause with just background noise heard once connected, heavily accented man said if I didn't cancel the protection plan it would automatically renew and be debited immediately from my account on file. Told him sorry but I knew there was no such plan in effect and that I don't even have a bank account or credit card and that the number was being reported to proper authorities ASAP!
- Caller: unknown/Consumer Protection Plan (?)

- KevinRec'd call on Tuesday, let it go to answering machine on landline. Returned call Weds. Spoke with a heavily accented fellow named John. When I asked company name and company represented he hung up. There was heavy static background and heard what sounded like others (very low volume) in the background. LOL
- Caller: John... company not identified

- AnnGarbled message, cutting out like a bad cell connection. Something about subscription & auto renewal...
I called the number back before checking online. An accented man answered, insisting that a subscription related to my computer would be automatically renewed and charged if I did not cancel. He would not give specifics. I don't recall having any such subscription. In order to cancel he wanted me to go to my computer so he could show me how. I hung up because he kept threatening that I would be charged if I did not cancel, which involved more than just telling him to cancel. He would have tried for account info or access to my computer, I'm sure.
I don't react to these voice messages, but this one got me because it was so unclear & I thought there was a chance that it could be something I should respond to, No, it was not. Scam.- Call type: Scam suspicion

- Brenda| 2 repliesThis 855-724-2344 keeps calling me about canceling a subscription or be charged $299.00 The more they call the message gets more garbled. Too many foreigners are handeling accounts like Microsoft. Had trouble with Microsoft to the point I had to do a stop payment and change my bank account. Once your information is overseas you don't know who has it and what kind of scheme they'll try. Could be someone who once worked for a Microsoft call center do this scheme.

- BigA replies to Brenda| 1 replyThis has nothing to do with Microsoft at all. Lots of companies have outsourced their call centers to India and other countries as well.
