    Got a call from 855/756-6497.  It turns out my buddy was needing a job reference.  We use to work together.

    This is a company called HireRight ... http://www.hireright.com/ ... It is legit.  Their main customer service number is 800/400-2761.  If someone calls you and asks for information, ask for their "reference number" and call the official customer service number with your response.  That's what i did and they were able to verify it as a legit callback number and provide me the information of what they had on the person.
