This is a common ploy by criminals masquerading as debt collectors who are attempting to extort money from people by scaring you into believing that you will be criminally charged, go to jail, lose your driver’s license, have wages garnished, be sued, and a variety of other variations on this,  all for an alleged or nonexistent debt.  One of the tricks they use is to call your work place, friends, or relatives repeatedly in an attempt to shame you into paying.  They also use the “process server” ruse who calls and claims he is going to serve you, but then says you could avoid it by calling another number

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

This powers guy called me and stated that I would be served at my home.  He asked me to verify my social and I asked him to tell me who I was suppose to owe money to and he said he couldn't tell me.  Told him that my lawyer would be contacting him and he said no need for that.  Then argued with him more and he hung up.

A neighbor who is the ex of a friend, got a call from Geneva Butler at this number, extension 422.  I callled and she was not available so I spoke to Trevor.  The upsot is they are trying to collect on old debts that have not been litigated.  When i asked Trevor if they were going to file with the court and pay the $225 filing fee due in a Civil proceeding in order to get a judgment he became irritated and said i didn't know as much as i thought.  Oh Trevor......you sad sack.

Bottom line......There has to be a legal Judgment in thier favor order for them to collect.  Don't give these losers a penny!

I also asked him how it is possible that in this day and age they, as a complany, do not have a website.  My cousins babysitting business has one!

Your mother probably doesn't owe anything, she is the victim of an attempted extortion plot, one that now includes you since they are threatening you as well.

They call family, friends, neighbors and/or places of employment (past or present or both) to create panic and embarrassment so that their intended victim calls them and they can scare that person into paying their extortion money.

In this particular case, you and your mother actually called Victoria Secret and followed the trail that led you too this office and you still say that this office is a scam. You were advised to pull your own credit report and to contact the entity that's reporting this and you still say its a scam. This particular account has been through several collection agencies, you have received several letter in regards to this delinquent debt, yet you still say its a scam ...YOUR THE SCAM!!!!

Then if your collection firm is not a scam you should be more than willing to give us the legal name and address, what state (s) you are registered in to do business, and any license numbers you have in state(s) that require DCs to be licensed.  Further, you have threatened that one of the persons involved in this will be "charged"?  With what crime.  This person first off is not responsible for someone's debt other than their own, and debt is not a criminal offense, although illegal collection tactics are.  It is also not their responsibility to prove anything.  Federal law states that you must prove that they owe the debt.  But then scum like you never wants to follow the law because it prevents you from stealing money.

Oh and one other thing.  Are you clairvoyant?  I was just wondering how you would have so much information on someone who posted under the screen name "M".

Interesting there "T"  Looks like you are located in Western New York, world's #1 haven for criminals pretending to be debt collectors.  You aren't registered under that name which means you can't legally do business.  but I did find the name of one of the felons that works for you on LinkedIn.

***A company must be licensed in their state as well as the one they are trying to collect in if two different states are involved.

    Some Tips:
    *Keep all messages
*Take a picture of your Caller ID
*Keep any and all conversations recorded to your states recording laws, some require they be told, others do not. This can be transferred to a recording device.
*Keep a notebook handy for writing time, date, who you spoke with and what the conversation detailed.
*Check your SOL for your state as well.
*Attorneys need to be licensed as a DC to collect, all DC's must be licensed in their state as well as yours if different.
